Red Cross is something. There are many other ways to serve our country, remember it is about the Constitution not the Politicians that we are to protect and serve. The oath swears us to follow the orders of the officers and POTUS, however the Military is there to protect the constitution and the country from all threats foreign and DOMESTIC.
No doubt that the AF gets the best looking women of all the branches, although I met quite a few Marine Chicks who were hot. Plus they well never mind that....
the poll implies that all those in the military agree with the current policy. i assume that means the current administration and its forgien policy. thats kind of offensive.
you just don't give some people guns, and that's why i'm not in the army. That and I'm too young, I don't agree with the war so I'd deffinately have issues fighting in it, and I have a medical excuse (flat feet)
Because we have a professional voluntary army, and I chose another profession? I don't like the army regimented lifestyle, don't like to get up early in the morning, don't like to be thrown all over the world on a whim, and don't like the idea of climbing tall and dangerous things listening to the drill sergeant barking some crap into my ear? Don't like to be out in the rain, or guarding useless shit through the night? Would probably have zero in common with nearly everyone else who's currently in the army? Don't like the idea of being shot? Yea I think those are pretty much my reasons. At the same time, I did think that the army discipline could do me some good -- programmers and engineers coming out of the army are some of the best there are because of their disciplined problem-solving approach.
I have a habit of hitting and kicking people when I'm really annoyed and they're annoying me and if I had a gun I wouldn't say it wouldn't be possible for me not to shoot them even though i'd feel really bad about it after I did that. Not to mention big guns kinda scare me.
most people (and this is the air force im talking about) here are very right wing, usually pretty closed minded, and generally... how do i put this... rural.. so unless you love stuff like hunting, nascar, drive a pickup truck and are xenophobic, the military might not be for you.
Just my observation from blue collar Northern New Jersey, and in the Okie-lands of California. I'll trust you about the level-headedness of our military personnel - which is certainly reassuring. Ah, yes wedgies in high school. Let's just say I gave and I received.
i dont hunt, drive a pick up and im not a xenophobe ill admit i hated NASCAR, but they hated soccer til they understood it
I believe the proper snobby, urban, elitist world you're looking for there is provincial. 'rural' implies sort of a neutral connotation, clearly, you're looking for little more disdain.
