in the champs league last year barcelona had no problems dominating liverpool at anfield 3-1 (or was it 4-1?), deportivo took it to man u at old trafford, and recently barcelona beat newcastle at newcastle 3-0 (could have been like 5-0)

those are a few examples of many results and there are more when spanish teams dominate english teams at their own grounds. I wont even mention that the finalists of the champions league have had a spanish team for i forgot how many years now.

so the question is why are spanish teams so much better than english teams? i think that the english league is the most entertaining in europe, but international results prove that spanish teams are the toughest, and their league is the hardest.

why? do they have better coaches? better players?

Man, you're a piece of work. Between the ignorant notion that that the US should hire a "big name foreign coach" and this attempt to prove something utterly unquantifiable, you're making the case for paying the $30 premium to activate the ignore list.

I mean, if teams from the MIDDLE and the BOTTOM of the EPL and La Liga tables played each other, then you can say something meaningful about the quality both leagues. But since only the top two or three ever play each other, debates about the quality of both leagues are pretty pointless.

how dumb are you? so i guess the champions league doesnt matter, since in your opinion the best teams of each league playing each other is "pointless" to determine who has better teams

I thought "lond" stood for Don.

The 99 final didn't have any Spanish teams.

Well, the top teams in all country should be a representation of the quality of the league, so the point he makes isn't so bad...

In my opinion the Spanish league and clubs are the best in the world at the moment. I mean, of the CL finalists of thelast 5 years, 5 were spanish, 3 were German, one was Italian and one was English, you can't look beside those numbers. If you would bring the semis into the equation you would probably get even more convincing results

The answer is pretty simple. The EPL is NOT the most entertaining league its just the most exposed.

for me it is the most entertaining in europe, but since i have gotten fox sports i have found the argentinian league and brazilian more entertaining than the epl

Obviously anything that resembles intelligence is beyond your comprehension. So I'll go REEEEAL slow.

    1) The Champions League takes the best (or the best 2, 3, or 4) teams from a league.

    2) the results might tell you which league has the best team playing in it...

    3) but because you don't know how the teams from other parts of each league's table would match up with one another, you really have no way of knowing which LEAGUE is the best from top to bottom.

    4) you yourself say the EPL is the most entertaining league in Europe. Ask yourself "why?"

    5) since I don't want to trouble your synapses with the extra effort that might require, I'll offer one hypothesis: because it's the strongest league from top to bottom.

Why do we have rankings then? so FIFA and everyone else is wrong but YOU dr wanker is right, we should only have rankings when it comes to mid card teams playing other mid card teams, forget about the top teams.

Lets get rid of the ranking system we have now, since they dont determine which is the best league according to dr wanker.

the best leagues are determined by results in international competitions, spanish teams have beaten english teams over and over again.

your logic is wrong and you are making yourself look bad

I like the EPL and try to catch as much of it as I can but I think La Liga is superior top to bottom. Not just the top teams but most teams from Spain do well in international competitions (UEFA, Intertoto, CL).

Of course who the hell can say with any certainty which is better?

Technically, it has been since 86 since a Spanish side won the UEFA cup. However they did win Cup winner Cups in 89 95 and 97.

The topic at hand was not the acheviement of one team but the performance of teams across the board. Consequently, and specificly, I was speaking to how they fair in general not whether one team takes the Cup. In the last 5 to 10 years or so seems that Spanish teams have done well (one games and advanced to the later stages) on the international competition.

If you got knowledge feel free to enlightened. If you have any other sorry attempts to assess my knowledge of the game, feel free to entertain.

Could people please stop calling the CL, UEFA Cup, Intertoto Cup, European Super Cup, and World Club Championship international competitons, they are not, they continental/intercontinetal championships.

Now that's been cleared up, you may proceed in your pathetic debate.

First off, he's saying something that is for the most part true. Barca, Real, Valencia, and Depor could all place very high if they were in the EPL. They could easily shut down ManU, Arsenal, and Liverpool.
Personally, I think lond has no clue what he's trying to do here except for the fact that he's trying to provoke a fight by asking a question that requires the answer "no s**t sherlock!" His thing about the big name coaches for the USMNT was completely astounding and ridiculous and all together this guy is probably taking out all his anger and frustrations because his mom giggled when he dropped his pants.

You mind descending from your high horse one more time and explaining how they are NOT international but they are intercontinental.

Not only is your logic flawed but you are just plain wrong.

Looking solely at head-to-head results rather than things won, really, it comes down to a question of style. English teams simply have been having a hard time beating Spanish teams, Spanish teams don't do well against German teams, and Italian teams haven't been doing well against... well, anybody. It's all relative.

And before anyone brings up Bayer Leverkusen, the style they play isn't exactly your typical German game.

yes but if people judge a league by its top teams you could say that scotland has respectable league, but in reality its a bag of crap in which you have 2 better than average teams....
