Dude have you seen the commercial on UPN about next week's game?It goes.... "The Big Blue are gunna kick some Florida ASS this weekend and UPN has you covered...blah blah blah" It was the funniest thing Ive ever heard. Specially with that "voice over" guy voice.
I've been a fan since 1981, and it has been basically crap ever since. As soon as they had the interception return for a touchdown called back I went "you know that's going to cost them later". I was half kidding, but I was right. They would have gone up 28-6 and put it out of reach. I don't know what happened to the offense in the second half, or how it was they coordinated thier collapse with the defense (which was miserable), but it was just another in a very long line of tough games to watch. I'm watching the first half and looking at Pennington saying "Well this is great, but there are going to be some times when he doesn't have a game like this, and how will he do in adversity?" I figured at least he would finish the game off well. What a collapse.
Dear Anthony, I wish I had a awesome team with an astronomically great record of 2-5. I wish I had a team that had such a stingy defense as to allow only 193 points in seven games. I wish I had a powerhouse offensive team that can light it up to the sum of 116 points so far. I wish I had a team that sacked the opposition a whopping 10 times while only allowing a measley 19 by the other team. I wish I had a team that only has 15 turnovers through 7 games. I wish to god I had a team as good as your great Jets. Sincerely, Amerifolklegend: bengals fan.
You're not the guy who carries the guy in the hard hat and leads the "J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets!" chant are you? I wouldn't be comfortable with having a another man's nether region so close to my face, but some people are, apparently. Regardless, bring back Browning Nagle!
It can't be any worse then the 1-15 season a few years ago.... Although, yesterday was difficult to watch. They were looking so good in the first half, except for a few turnovers. Unfortunately, the second half was a different story. However, it makes me wonder why I ever became a Jets fan... hmm... I will blame it on WFAN (New York radio). Next week they will win
I feel your pain Anthony. I was @ Shea Stadium when the JETS lost to the legendary AINTS team in the early eighties providing them there only win that season. The name AJ Duhe still haunts me to this day.
For me, the worst game was the imfamous 9-5 loss to the Colts in 1984. Not only was the weather awful and the game terrible, I crashed my mom's car on the way home.
I believe the Mud Bowl with Richard Todd, good ol' #14 was their high point. The Sack Exchange was fun to watch, considering I'm a NY (Football) Giants fan. Klecko's son plays for Temple U. D'ya know who the RB coach is at Temple? Blair Thomas, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Then again, we had to deal with Jarrod Bunch and Tyrone Wheatley. Probably why I don't like Michigan as much, cuz they haven't done jack for the Giants in terms of the running game recently. Jumbo Elliot, fine. Amani Toomer fine. Michigan running backs, get DEEEEEEEZ NUTZ.
There are more Giants fans in general. (The rest of this is anecdotal so don't quote me on the exact numbers but I wanted to give you a general idea.) I think Long Island & NYC proper it may be like a 60/40 split Giants over Jets (not factoring in the front runners who are Cowboy fans etc.). In NJ its probably 90/10 Giants over Jets (which makes it even more ridiculous that the Jets play in the Meadowlands). I don't know about the rest of the Tri-state area. I think the Giants are actually the most popular sports team in the NYC area. I saw a survey where they asked people in the NYC area what their favorite team was (I think it was in Newsday) - the top 4 were 1) Giants 2) Mets 3) Yankees 4) Jets
How can the Yanks be in 3rd? Oh wait, they asked sports fans? Unfortuately, not too many real Yankees fans around.
The Mets inherited the old Dodger & (baseball) Giant fans - it has just trickled down over the years.
Yesterday made being a Jets fan all the more frustrating. We finally saw how good this team can be, blowing the doors off of San Diego 44-13. Now, if they had only held onto the lead last week, they would be 4-4 right now and in the running for a wild card spot. Uggh. Great game, but it is so hard to follow this team. One week, utter ruin. The next week, pure genius.
