From your country, what player(s) past or present have really stood out and succeeded or "made it" in the national team or abroad? Please limit your answer to no more than three players. My goal here is to create a Central American "super team". Would this all-star team have a decent (or strong!) chance against a similar team from another geographical area.

Here are my three from Panama: both Dely brothers, Rommel Fernandez

This reminds me of a question I've had for a while. On the 2002 World Cup site they listed former great players for each team, and Costa Rica's were Juan Ulloa and Javier Astua. I was wondering if anyone could tell me more about these players. All I've found on google is that Ulloa was top scorer in Costa Rica a few times in the 1960's and Astua was top scorer a few times in the early 90's. However, judging from the roster I've seen Astua wasn't on Costa Rica's 1990 world cup team. Is anyone able to provide more info about these guys? Thanks.

    Javier Astua>
he was an important forward in the early 90's, he played for Puntarenas and alajuela, he probably also played for 1-2 other minor teams, he won the top-scorer award a couple of times, he got several injuries in his last pro-seasons
He also played for the nat'l team in some games, but he was defently not a star, who ever consider astua as a star has to consider Medford or C.Jara as Gods, thay were much better than him.

I'll post some inf about Ulloa as soon a I find it, i wasnt born in the early 80's, never see him playing.

    Wanchope
    Tuma
    Pupi
    Centeno - when he's on
Pollo Brenes - should be on the national selection

Best one that i have ever seen life

MEDFORD, 2WC, 1YC, played in europe and mexico

    "Yo calle al Azteca"
    -Hernan medford

Journalist- "So, hernan, you are going back to Costa Rica, what team are you gonna play for?"
Medford - "what team?, Saprissa obviosuly, who else?"

After Medford scored that offsides goal against Mexico in qualifying, I remember him talking bad about the Mexicans. It just seemed unfair because they treated him so well with teams that he played for like Leon.

Well, may three or four all-time best from Guatemala are:

Guillermo "el Pando" Ramirez- personally, the most complete player all-time.
Oscar "el Conejo" Sanchez- Pure goalscorer and player
    "La escopeta" Recinos
    Byron Perez

FYI>>Medford talked more before that game than after, I dont remember that goal was offside, Medford es un grande

Why no Ruiz in your list, i though he was like a hero for you guates?

Oh, sorry...yes, Medford es grande. En mi opinion, uno de los mejores de todos los tiempos de Costa Rica.

Ruiz is an excellent player and maybe I should have included him but his personality on the field, in that he falls down to much, is just dumb and puts everything else second.
