Today is not a real good indication of strengths of either team:

    Japan minus their Euro stars
Saudis without their best defender I believe and 15 new faces...

Good job Saudi in beating Japan nonetheless. Class team in Asia, just not in the rest of the world.

We also missed 4 midfielders, and Yasser was injured. If Saudi is class team in Asia but not the rest of the world, then what is Japan?

I just think Japan plays well against Europe. Many of their players have good (and also very bad) experience in Europe, which I think Saudis don't have enough of. I think Al-Qahtani and Noor should play in Europe, playing against minnows like Tunisia is one thing, but Euro teams are another.

Al-Qahtani was injured? Wow thats a pretty impressive win.

Congratulations to the win, and Hard luck to Japan

South Korea lose in the Qualifications
    Iran Lose in the Qualifications
    Japan Lose in the Qualifications

    ... etc

But in the real tournaments we will see who is the Best Side
Japan class in Asia when they play in Real tournament.

There is a difference between losing 8-0 and 4-0 in the most important match a team plays every 4 years, and winning 1-0 in the qualifying rounds of the Asian Cup where the results wont matter anyway.

Besides, you cant say Japan is better than Korea, and its a fact that Saudi has been the worst team out of the big 4 Asian teams (you can even count Australia in to make it 5) for the past 10 years in the World Cup.

LOL at this guy acting like he has the facts...

in France 98 (8 years ago) Saudi Arabia finished with 2 goals for, and 7 against with 1 point. That was better than Japan's 0 points and tied Korea's record. Only Iran had a win in that world cup.

in 2002...Iran wasnt even participating in the world cup

in 2006...again, Japan and Saudi finished even with 1 point and goals

Sometimes its wiser to check your facts first buddy ;)

In 1998, Iran did best and Saudi Arabia and Korea did a little better than Japan. In 2002, Korea and Japan did much better than Saudi Arabia. In 2006, Korea got a draw and Saudi Arabia, Iran and Japan did even. What does that tell you, Laith?

    1998
    Iran - 3 pt / 1 w - 0 d - 2 l
    Saudi - 1 pt / 0 w - 1 d - 2 l
    Korea - 1 pt / 0 w - 1 d - 2 l
    Japan - 0 pt / 0 w - 0 d - 3 l

Iran got a win. Saudi and Korea with 1 point and Japan with 0.

    2002
    Korea - 7 pt / 2 w - 1 d - 0 l
    Japan - 7 pt / 2 w - 1 d - 0 l
    Saudi - 0 pt / 0 w - 0 d - 3 l (GD -12)
    Iran - Did not qualify.

Korea and Japan both top group with 7 pts each. Saudi have none, finishing dead last. Iran didn't qualify.

    2006
    Korea - 4 pt / 1 w - 1 d - 1 l
    Saudi - 1 pt / 0 w - 1 d - 2 l
    Iran - 1 pt / 0 w - 1 d - 2 l
    Japan - 1 pt / 0 w - 1 d - 2 l

Korea managed to get 4 points, while the other Asian qualifiers finished with 1 point.

    So, Laith...

    It seems in the last 3 WCs, Korea got 3 w / 3 d / 3 l (12 pt). Japan got 2 w / 2 d / 5 l (8 pt). Iran got 1 w / 1 d / 4 l (4 pt) from 2 WCs. Saudi Arabia got 0 w / 2 d / 7 l (2 pt).

    Are these not facts?

If you want to add Australia, they got 4 pts too, 1 w / 1 d / 1 l in the last 3 WC (Did not qualify 98 ~ 02). So in the last 3 WCs, Korea, Japan, Australia and Iran has done better than Saudi Arabia.

What happened to world cup 94 buddy? Just shows how biased u are in your statements! Just do me a favor, don't reply back.

I believe this the asian forum. so wtf does it have to do with saudis results against european teams?

First try to win against the saudis instead of trying to have support from the european countries. "Oh saudi lost to germany 8-0, Oh saudi lost to ukraine 4-0. So they are the worst team:rolleyes: ".
    "I say fk Oh"

    All i see:

    Saudi won against southkorea. Check.
    Saudi won against japan. Check.

    Who's next?

Why don't you want me to reply? Did you finally realize you have no arguement? Just do me a favor, and stop acting stupid.

I didn't post '94 because Laith was talking about '98 on and a team 12 years ago and now is totally different. Are you saying that the Saudia Arabia today is similar to what it was 12 years ago? But if you insist, in '94 Saudi Arabia was 2 w / 0 d / 1 l (6 pts), only to lose to Sweden in the 2nd Round. Korea went 0 w / 2 d / 1 l (2 pts).

In total of the past 4 WCs, Korea has gotten 14 pts, where Saudi Arabia has gotten 8 pts, a little over half of what Korea has done. So in the end, what does all this data mean? Saudi Arabia may have had a good past compared to Iran, Australia and Japan, but they gradually became worse.

South korea is the better, south korea has speed and awareness and they are young and got players in europ, saudia arabia has no players in europ and they only suceed against bad teams, i dont how they have beaten korea in the last 2 matches but overall saudi arabia doesnt make it to the top 4 asian teams..the top 4 teams are

    1.Iran
    2.Japan
    3.Korea
    4.Austrailia

Saudiarabia has a major problem when facing european teams.

But when facing asian teams, they are the best.

You know what, u guys can underestimate saudi arabia all you want.

Korea underestimated last time, their coach jo bonfrere underestimated them, the korean fans at big soccer underestimated them , even the world underestimated them....................
South Korea Face Saudi Arabia for Second World Cup Qualifier.
"South Koreans look the stronger side against a fragmented Saudi team this Saturday when they battle to reinforce their Group A lead in the second Asian Zone 2006 World Cup qualifier........"

But look who came out on top.

And on the topic, When u look the last three games between southkorea and saudiarabia

    Saudi arabia...........................Ko rea

    3...............match played..........3

    3................won............... ......0

    5..................goals............ ......1

Saudi arabia won 3 times. Its upto you guys to intrepret these results however u like.

Alright so think of it this way...

Say Brazil can beat any country in the world. BUT, ther'es one team, Argentina that always beat Brazil. Brazil always beat tough teams like Germany, Italy, France, etc... but Argentina loses to them most of the time.

So, is Brazil better or Argentina?

(Say brazil is korea and saudi arabia is argentina)
    (Germany, Italy, = random teams.)

Thats true. Its a fact, that some teams cannot defeat another certain team. maybe its a curse, maybe its something mental. Such as, Brazil always seems to have a hard time against fra, nce, Although on paper, brazil should win.
Saudi's dont base ur opinion on the matchs we played. Korea is the better team for sure.

If you still think Saudi;s are better then Korea, go make a poll on a neutral thread and ask.
