Couple of months ago I would have said Ahn Jung Hwan, but quite frankly, his poor run of form has taken its toll on my faith and loyalty to him so I'm going to have to go with either of these three give or take. Lee CS, Park JS, or Lee YP.

My faith in Ahn is hanging by a thread.

Gotta be J Spark. Barring injury he is a catalyst in every sense of the word

    No doubt
    Park Ji Sung.

He should seriously be the captain in 2006 as his work ethic is a model of what Korean Soccer should be.

Park Ji Sung not only has he proved himself in Europe he has also is probably on the few left on out NT squad that gives a 110%.

Park Ji-Sung is who I think is the best as well.

Choi Jin-Cheul really gives 110% as well, I think he's up there too and is kind of underrated. At least there are still some players who really try.

No doubt Park JS has tremdous work ethic and gives his best every game. I remember Korea playing Vietnam in a exhibition match which we won 2-0...Park JS was the only player who was playing hard against Vietnam, he was running down the pitch like a madman.

U know what, if Choe Song Guk could get a oppotunity somewhere, he could possibly be the best korean NT, his form has been pretty damn impressive for the NT.

Best player right now? Park JS or Lee CS...But we all know what Lee Yong Pyo and Song Chong Guk can do...

I would say Park Ji-sung is number 1 as well.
For 2nd it's a tie between Lee Chun-soo and Lee Young-pyo. Lee Young-pyo is just a quality player and Lee Chun-soo ran his socks off in the Olympics and he's working really really hard to make it in one of the toughest leagues in the world. I know he's got an attitude but he backs it up with effort.
Also I think his efforts in fitting in is very admirable. It seems to be a consistent Korean problem, being unable to adjust, but on the first day of showing up for Real Sociedad he even memorized a line in Basque thanking them for giving him a chance.

Interesting. I agree with you guys that right now Park is probably the most influential national team player, but for some reason I can't picture him with a captain's armband...he doesn't have that kind of an imposing presence...

but then again, I could simply have a bias that comes from the indelible memory of a fresh-faced Park giving Korea the goal against Portugal and leaping into the arms of Hiddink afterwards. Park's matured much since then...but captain? Who do do you guys think should be NT captain in 2006...do you think think Yoo will/should still be on the NT then? I still prefer a fit Yoo as captain.

Yoo will probably be Captain as this is gonna be his last world cup and he's a Legend in the K-League and somewhat in the J-League.

I agree with Choi Jin-Cheul being underrated. In fact, he would have been my second or 3rd choice.

It's gotta be a defender or defensive midfielder (if there's a good candidate).

The captain sets the tone of the team and we need a defense first mentality .. never mind the hype, we're not that great attacking wise.

Choi Jin Cheul isn't the most talented player or doesn't have that great of a talent. But what makes him such a good player is his work ethic, his all-out effort, and playing smart football. He knows how to use his big body...I do agree that he is rather underrated, but what can u say, he was a late bloomer.

Want a late bloomer? Try Donato. His career took off past the age of 30. He retired at 41 or something. Played top flight football for Deportivo La Coruna. Rumor has it that his "actual" age was actually older but he faked his birthdate to make himself look younger on paper.

He got red carded in yesterday's game. His playing time will be impacted as he has to sit out a game I think. He can't afford to do that when he tries to get back on good side of his team.

Lee Chun-soo is the current best Korean player IMO. He has that subtle cleverness that other Korean players lack. I still remember back in 1999 how he toyed Paraguayan players who are not bad when it comes to soccer tricks. Only if he can muscle up a little without losing his speed, he will tear apart any defensive formation the world can offer.
Park Ji-sung comes second in my book. Though he seems to have unlimited lung capacity, he unnecessarily overdoes it. Tempo is what he's got to master.

Choi Sung-kuk is probably out of top 10 at this moment but I think he has the most potential. He needs some bigleague experience that would slap him in the face and tell him he's nobody.

Park Ji Sung, He can actually skip pass the defender to create chances which nearly all the Korean attackers are lacking.
And His our most consistent player. Look at for example Ahn Jung Hwan/Seol Ki Hyun...They walk and jog most of the time.

Choi Sung Guk probably have potential but his stepovers and tricks only works with ******** defenders.

Yoo is definitely the Captain of 2006. He might not be the best player on the team talent wise but Dammit he's a badass out there. Doesnt take shiet from no one and knows how to keep the other players on the team in check. Maybe to a fault, but better to have someone with his leadership ability at the helm.

He is our Major Winters (Band of Bros.)
