Who's in charge over there?

Just thought i'd throw this out after looking over all the articles and posts recently....esp as they pertained to the nowak deal.

supposedly, these are the management titles over there as we speak.
    Robert Kraft: Investor/Operator
    Jonathan Kraft: Investor/Operator
Sunil Gulati: Managing Director, Kraft Soccer
    Lou Imbriano: Chief Operating Officer
    Renato Capobianco: Director of Soccer
Craig Tornberg: Director of Fan Development & Assistant Soccer General Manager
    Head Coach: Steve Nicol

I find it a bit weird from a title standpoint that the revs have an asst. gm....but, nobody that's the actual gm. that's just semantics though.

I was under the impression that Renato was going to be "the soccer half" of what todd was last year with probably that Pats Interloper becoming more of the business half. Leads be to wonder exactly what Craig's new titles mean. Oh, and Ragnhild doesn't seem to be on the list anymore for customer relations.....in fact, nobody is. that's a bad sign. anyway, i digress.

When looking back at all the recent moves, esp Nowak, Renato is never mentioned one single time. no quotes. no nothing. Almost all quotes in the media are extremely heavy to Peter Wilt with Gulati maybe mentioned once somewhere and Nicol giving most of the revs perspective when it was solicited. Plus, in everyone's post on these boards (with exception to one) people just said "the revs". Who knows....maybe the league engineered this whole thing b/c of the cap problems everyone seems to be having with exception to a couple of teams.

So, do we have a g.m. or not?
    Is it really important?
    What is Renato's role?
if Sunil is pulling the strings...why don't they just call him the g.m. and trot him out as the guy responsible if things go sour?....or well.
Maybe Nicol is pulling the strings?
Maybe the new P.I. is pulling the strings...arrgh!

I guess what i'm looking for, as a fan, is to know that there is a "soccer guy" that is making the moves for the future of this squad that knows what he's doing. i'm not an "operator", but i am an "investor". so, i do want to know that the product i pay for is continually improving itself.

for example, if i were a metros fan, i'd be throwing my hands up after the things n.s. has done over there and wondering if i really wanted to commit to a team that just keeps stumbling along for the most part. maybe i'd be less inclined to reup if i was over there.

So, is Renato the guy? Is it Steve? Is Craig looking for diamonds in the rough? Who holds this team's future in their job description?

    Who the ************ knows.

Lou is responsible in keeping under budget, or lack there of, and deals with Craig and Sunil.

Sunil deals with getting as many big name soccer games to be played in Gillete every year, and watches Renato.

Renato is the man to blame/credit in player acquisitions and is responsible for Steve.

Steve coaches and is responsible for all signed players and makes Craig's job possible.

Craig is the person in the trenches actually selling the tickets.

Then there is the big eye in the sky watching everyone.

    That's what im thinking..........

I've been looking for the same thing for a few years. There is discussion after discussion on these boards about who was responsible for what moves, and no clear answer has emerged.

I think this is really the other way around. I may be wrong, but I think of Capobianco's role as like an assistant coach in the area of player scouting and acquistion.

In Parcellian terms, Nicol makes up the shopping list and Capobianco picks up the groceries.

no matter who made the decisions last year....we always got the feeling that todd was the one responsible, with heavy consultation from fernando/nicol. sunil apparently did some manuvering perhaps with regards to the allocation draft but seemed to be in the backseat for the other deals when it came to the media's description of events.

if, in fact, nicol is really doing the "list" and renato is "picking up the groceries", shouldn't we at least hear from renato thru the media in some quotes or something? if its really a crew-like 3 headed monster up front (nicol, renato, and sunil).....that would be interesting to know.

perhaps, gus will get to the bottom of this issue as the season draws near. or maybe frank will have quotes from all 3 of their agents describing all of their respective roles. god, the last thing i want to know is that the pats interloper is reviewing mls players on some fantasy site and is now weaseled his way into player/personnel stuff too.
