I'd rather see the Padres win it because I'm not a Cubs fan and I'm from San Diego. But San Diego can't even win a division title, how will they ever win a World Series title?
You don't really believe this load of ******************, do you? It's so devoid of logic that it's not even really worth talking about.
Come on, you're ignoring the importance of sheer luck. Baseball is a game of percentages. The Red Sox had a couple of teams that easily could have won the WS (how can you even make statements like this considering 1986?). The Cubs also have a team that could easily win the WS. Having said that, there is something to the theory that you can maximize profits by putting out a team that is just good enough to compete, but unlikely to be champions. Connie Mack admitted that much. But don't forget that most owners are motivated by prestige at least as much as profit.
