Having seen some of the extravagant/ambitious plans posted here I'm just wondering who's planning to see the most games, and just how many will that be? It's not going to be me for sure, so I'm not showing off! I think 25 is the maximum you could see (1 per match day) which might be just about possible if you took in mostly Johan and Pretoria games. But that would be plain daft, although now I've thought about it I reckon it would make quite a good TV programme! So is anyone going to more than 7?
Just the 7, following England all the way! Not as many as this bloke: http://www.southafrica.info/2010/thulani-ngcobo.htm
I'm up to (16) and possibly one more. I might do Match 1 if I can get a ticket but otherwise I'm going to these: Match 5 Eng v. USA Match 8 Ser v. Gha Match 20 Arg v. S. Korea Match 22 Slov v. USA Match 24 Gha. v. Aus. Match 29 Bra. v. Civ. Match 32 Spa. v. Hon. Match 37 USA v. Alg Match 49 R16 Match 50 R16 Match 55 R16 Match 58 QF Match 59 QF Match 61 SF Match 62 SF Match 64 FINAL
9 hopefully: USA vs. Slovenia Italy vs. New Zealand USA vs. Algeria Italy vs. Slovakia Spain vs. Chile 1B vs. 2A Match 52 Italy vs. Rd.16 QF Match 58 Italy vs. QF
We'll do 10, so @Silicus and this fellow Thulani Ngcobo in the link above definitely have us beat. Our ten will include a no-doubt-insane attempt to see two games in one day (Pretoria --> Soccer City; 23 June). Any suggestions from people (especially locals) on how we might do this is much appreciated. We are considering a bunch of options. I have talked with a number of South Africans about this already, and the answers range from "definitely do-able, if you rent a helicopter" to "that'd be awesome, mate, don't listen to what others tell you, you can certainly make this" to "you guys are idiots".
Overcooked it last time, so just somewhere between 7 and 10 this time, depending on Englands progress. I really do want to spend sometime looking around SA
Brazil - Ivory Coast US - Algeria Brazil - Portugal 50 51 or 52 (depending on where US finishes) 56 might add a 53 in there if its Holland - Italy so 6 or 7 matches. Wish i had time for more.
Fastest - train. Just hope the schedule suits you but the trains go from Stadium to stadium - all your other options still have to include walking from the parking to the stadium. At the pretoria match be like those idiots who get up 10 min before the game and watch the last bit from the tunnel - when the final whistle blows you run for the station. You can party at Soccer city!
Metrorail from loftus to Jhb park station via Centurion, Kempton. metrorail train from Jhb Park station to soccer city. The schedules and stops will have to be checked though. even if the train does not go all the way I would still try to go by rail to miss traffic as it is on a normal working day. Please mail me again closer to the time because some highways could be complete before then - it might be fast by car too.
We're going to 8 matches in 12 days, which I think (and hope!) will be a good number... Match 20 – Argentina v. Korea Republic Match 22 – Slovenia v. USA Match 29 – Brazil – Côte d’Ivoire Match 33 – Mexico v. Uruguay Match 39 – Ghana v. Germany Match 41 – Slovakia v. Italy Match 50 – Round of 16 – 1C v 2D Match 52 – Round of 16 – 1B v 2A

The leaderboard: Most games: 1) Silicus on 16 & may get to 17. (PS - Not interested in going for 21 to get a world record for a few days before Thulali Ngcobo overtakes?) 2) Roberto larcos hoping to catch you on 16 Most host cities 7 - Supereagles Most stadiums ?? - Who wants to bid for this one? 2 games in 1 day zdog Consecutive match days 8 - larvel I'm not going to give Thulali Ngcobo any awards as I reckon he's been sponsored in some way. Although I am impressed!
