Yeah since January when I bought FSC, GolTV, ESPN Deportes as part of my channel lineup, I completely cut-down on ESPN. I have cut down on ESPN so much since the start of the new year that it took me a month to realize the Heat had traded for Jermaine O'Neal.
lol, same here. After hearing how the #1 Draft pick today is guaranteed at least $41 Million before he even steps foot onto a professional field..im starting to relize how ridiculous certain aspects of ESPN's favorite sports is getting here in the states. And just makes me like soccer that much more. Imagine Zukani or Marosevic or Bowen getting $41 Million before they even tested the pro levels.
AO Boston should have at least 6 people there maybe 10... We hope to keep growing so we can run a bus to NYC for the Gold Cup final...*crosses fingers
ESPN is giving soccer what it's earned in the country so far. A few highlights, score ticker at the bottom. It's growing, ESPN isn't "favoring" any sports whether you wanna believe it or not. Supply and demand, the American audience demands more of the other sports first. As for watching ESPN, it's mainly just Baseball Tonight for me.
ive found it tougher to watch Baseball Tonight since the MLB network started up....MLBN has such superior access
I wouldent go that far to defend ESPN. It is known in ESPN Broadcasts in Europe, they actually show College Basketall highlights and talk.....Basically one person said on a board "i dont get why they shove this college basketball stuff down our throats, when its non-existent over here".....................ESPN has a mission. They want American Sports just as popular as soccer. One would wonder why not just put college basketball on the ticker, since well it probally dosent even warrant that in Europe but since its a sport put it on their anyway......but, they actual have highlights and talk about the game. I would love to ESPN do that for MLS and EPL games. And soccer is more popular here in the US, then college basketball in Europe.
I'm siding with #1FandA here. Watch ESPN next time they show a goal/play in their top 10 or any soccer highlight. The highlight is usually followed by an ESPN broadcaster's attempt at a blow/joke at the game/player/play.
ESPN is an American station and even when it is being aired overseas it is primarily catered to an American or an ex-pat audience.
I'd love to watch it but unfortunately I don't run the cable in the dorm or the house so it's just baseball tonight for me
I just booked airfare, but it looks like both American Outlaws and Sam's Army aren't selling tickets any more. I need two - one for me, one for my wife. Anyone know where we can get tickets in the "supporters' section?"
Is there a general consensus on which hotel people are staying in? My wife and I and another couple will be arriving from Costa Rica on June 5th at around 5:00 pm. We're trying to figure out which hotel to book.
A good portion of the Kansas City AO and a lot of others are staying at the Hyatt Regency in downtown.
There's a hotel thread here: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=958470 Hyatt Regency Chicago is the place...if you can get the Priceline deal
I'm in. Flight booked, hotel booked (Hyatt Regency Chicago), and supporters section ticket received for USMNT game #63. I'm coming with two more from DC and one from Richmond.
This is the info on Sam's Army website: The Sam's Army ticket sale has ended The Sam's Army/U.S. Supporters section is along the endline in the 100 and 300 levels at Soldier Field and it will be a STANDING General Admission area.
I'm in section 148 at one of the endlines. I usually like sitting in the supporter's section, but this time I am bringing my young kids. I was hoping to be near the supporters.
How are the tickets being split between 100 and 300 level? Is it the earlier orders get the lower level?
