after pennants spell with leeds last season he has improved greatly and now has some premiership experience. Ljungberg has not made a huge impression on the arsenal team lately so should pennant get given a chance?

I think Pennant can become even better, he has great potential. But I still think Freddie should start and subsituted for Pennant later on in the game or if something goes wrong.

Maybe they can find a system to start them both along with Pires and van Persie in the Midfield.

You start Freddy of course. He's proven. He can get the big big goals and is the ultimate poacher. He's not a natural winger, more of a attacking scorer. You bring Pennant on as a sub for Freddy if needed.

These are probably gonna be the subs for next season.

Who are gonna be the subs for next season? Only limited to five.

    Out of these:

    Bergkamp
    Van Persie
    Pennant
    Aliadiere
    Flamini
    Edu/Gilberto...presuming Paddy stays
    Lauren...because of Trablesi
    Cesc
    Alumina/Stack
    Clichy

Damn, Wenger is gonna have a hard time selecting the team. Too bad the Premiership doesn't allow more than 5 subs on the bench.

I think Ljungberg should be the starter as he's proved to be a great player. With all the injuries he tends to get Pennant would certainly be able to fill the spot.

Well, I would rather see Pennant, but Freddie would be best for the team, he has the chemistry and knows the flow of Arsenal's attack and Pennant is a good sub to have because he is probably a little more versatile... let him get used to playing w/ the team a little at a time and see if he rivals Freddie

We know and DEFINITELY Arsene and Jermaine know that Freddy is the more experienced right winger. Jermaine could be a late sub. Even though Pennant's loan spell was a successful one, he doesn't have enough talent and quality as Freddy L.

I want Freddy to finish out his career at Arsenal...and grow that awesome spikey hair next season. Hopefully he can get those goals against ManU that we all know he can. Come on Freddy, score against them in the Charity Shield.

Freddy, hands down. He moves better off the ball, which is really the Arsenal style of play (e.g. confusing defenses by Lj. and Pires switching to the middle then drifting to one side or the other), has great understanding with his teammates, and could revert to his form of past years. He was injured a bit last year and rarely seemed 100%.

Pennant has talent but he's not par with Freddie yet.

Start Freddie with God. Freddie scores from typical great pass from God. Around 70th minute double switch Pennant and RVP. RVP scores a header from a Pennant cross.

Start Freddie. If he can stay healthy he can contribute more to the team since he's been playing with most of the starting XI for years and will have a better understanding of his teammates' movements and where he needs to be. Pennant should get his fair share of chances off the bench when defenders aren't fresh though.

I agree. That is about the only smart thing I've heard from Chelsea's new honcho.

It is not like EPL is some tiny little league with no depth.

It should be 7 on bench and 3 in the game.

Fredie, but purely for his goals. I think Pennant can be really good and we saw it at the end 02/03 against Southampton (I think). I rate him just as highly as Shawn Wright-Phillips.

We really have quite the winger style but without the target man. I expect Reyes to play on the right.

Reyes has played nowhere but in the middle for Arsenal virtually since he came here. It seems that is the position Wenger has choosen for him & nothing he has done in pre-season has done anything to indicate that he will deviate from that.

Finally, Wenger has a very solid group of subs to call upon. Freddie should start, but look for Pennant in Carling Cup and spotting FL8 during the season to keep the lads fresh for CL and FA Cup!

CAN THE SEASON START ANY SOONER!!!

Fred starts. Pennant should aim to be his direct replacement this season, start in League Cup and FA Cup games and make the bench regularly. I'd be looking for 20-30 appearances from him this year, mainly as sub. If Fred is injured then Pennant should look to make up the boss' mind and be his first thought when Fred can't play.

    Indeed!
