I'd like to see the rosters first before making a final vote, but at the moment it is difficult to pick anyone other than Mexico, simply due to the fact they will be able to play every match at home, where it is tough for everyone else to win.

If Mexico fields a B squad like they did in 2002, things may be different.

For my country's chances, much depends on the strength of the roster we are able to select. We already know that our two top strikers, Radzinski & De Rosario, will be missing from the tournament. On top of that we aren't sure at this stage how many European-based players will be able to make it, due to club conflicts.

Mexico will win because they will be at home like Captain Cunuck mentioned. They will most likely bring a good team and i read that Brazil will not bring any European players(not positive). I will like to see who Costa Rica and US bring. They also have a chance to win if they bring their national team starters.

Mexico will probably take this one.

#1 They are the Home team. At Azteca we are virtualy unbeatable.

#2 Adding Cruz Azul Players Like Cacho ( a young Cardozo) and Palencia will probably solve our scoring problem

    Hmmm.........

Any particular reason you are predicting such a dismal showing for Canada? Its not known yet how much of an "A" or "B" team will be sent, as the Canadian roster has not yet been released.

No particular reason. It's not a 3 game tourney so anything can happen, and my memory might be fuzzy but I thought Cuba did pretty well during the last gold cup (so did Canada), so it was a flip of a coin for me. Wouldn't shock me at all to see Canada win, I think Trecker agrees with you over at the Hartford Courant, so Canada winning is certainly possible but someone said that Everton kid isn't going to be playing for you so I factored that in, perhaps a little too much.

You could end up being right, though unless Canada ends up bringing a really depleted squad (like we did to Fort Lauderdale in January) I think it would be a bit of an upset if Cuba went through instead of us - despite what the FIFA rankings might suggest & the fact that we will indeed be missing Radzinski and De Rosario. Once the Canadian roster is released, I'll have a better idea as to Canada's chances, the problem is the roster fluctuates so greatly from game to game as we normally have major player availability problems.

    Simple.

    The USofA!!!!

WHY?? Because we MUST redeem ourselves after that Confed Cup disappointment!!

Arena realizes that, after making the Gold Cup more "revelant" than the Confed Cup, he MUST deliver!!

    And IMHO, he SHALL!!

With the exclamation point being, BEATING Mexico in the Azteca in the Final!!!!!!

    GO, USA!!!!!!

Nothing would make me happier than to see Canada advance (though not at the expense of the US), my dad's entire side of the family is from Canada (Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Alberta, and Nova Scotia) and I am very pro Canada when it comes to sports (it killed me that Ottawa and Vancouver choked this year in the NHL playoffs), but I was more or less putting a hunch out there (just check my pathetic record in the Confed Cup prediction thread elsewhere to see how bad I've been) and going with it. Right now I'm actually leaning to a US, or Brazilian win instead of Mexico, whereas before I had Mexico winning. Who knows, I'm just hoping the US makes it far enough to play in a maximum amount of games, hopefully taking the title in the process.

They looked like Sh.it today....but you must admit they've got a huge advantage in playing at Azteca.

Mex vs. either U.S. or Brazil in the final.

    1-0

    Mexico.

Mexico and the USA can't face each other in the semifinals. They will each play at home until the final.

I would be really suprised if the final was anything other than Mexico-USA.
