Will Lanus be able to defend their title? Will Boca get back to winning ways? Will Diego Simeone bring much-needed silverware to River? Will Ramon and his Dream Team run away with it? Will the darkhorses Velez and Estudiantes spring a surprise? Will Tigre put the icing on the cake on their fairy tale season? Will Racing emerge as the Ave Fenix and avoid relegation? Will Independiente finally turn their potential into titles? I think either SL or Boca will win it. I'd love Lanus to repeat. Make your predictions guys.
Unfortunately, it is very diificult to win both the local tournie and the Libertadores. So a lot of the chances for the local tournament depend on how far do the teams advance in the Libertadores. It is not the same, for the local tournament like happened last year, to have Boca reach the Final and have River lose in the Group Stages. In any event, I still "dream" of a double. But better chances are on Independiente, since they have no "extra 14 games" of Libertadores. Is San Lorenzo a better team with D'Alessandro, Bergessio, Placente and Bilos than they were with Ledesma, La Gata, Lavezzi and el Malevo? The dream team is a bit too much ... but it sells papers in the Centenary year. River lost Belluschi ... got Abreu and Archubi. It is the same team of last semester, with a riskier coach. The ultra offensive team will be fine to beat the smaller teams, which is an improvement from last year ... but against Boca, San Lorenzo, Arsenal, Lanus or even Estudiantes? Lanus just lost Lagos and Peralta, both subs to injury, which adds to their 2 central defenders injuries and no Ribonetto -a starter last year ... in a pretty thin squad full of youngsters. The Libertadores is a different story. Estudiantes just got an experienced goalscorer and re-built their defense with Cellay. But do they have squad for 2 tournaments? Remember Veron got injured early on last semester when playing the Sudamericana. Boca has added 3 heavy weights in Roman, Caceres and Castroman ... and lost only Banega after getting Vargas back into the map. They could possibly form a competitive 2nd team, but lacks power in offense. Independiente have kept the base from last semester and added Grisales, who will add experience and football. They look as the favorites if they remain injury free. .
Obviously I will say River.....argie football is too wacky to pick anyone. I think we should really ask who will go to 2nd division that wets my curiosity....The two teams from Rosario? The recently ascended? Racing? I think as a spectator slowing down on the highway to see the scene of a car accident, what would happen if Racing went in flames? They have a great hinchada.....i think avellaneda will look like darfur if that happens....i really hope that doesn't happen for the sake of humanity. But selling players and the coach being the last person to know is a scary sign
I like Boca for the title. I think they have the depth throughout the squad. I'll take San Lorenzo for the Libertadores. With D'Alessandro I think they will be very dangerous.
I think it will be Boca, of course. But it should be a great tournament. Some young talented players left as usual, but we are getting a good number of veterans back, so I expect some great football this season.
It's going to be a good Clausura/Libertadores with alot of very talented young players and other veteran players returning from Europe. There's alot of skill in the league so it should be good.
Not San Lorenzo after today's performance. What an embarassment to get shut out at home by the "leprosos".
so i wasnt able to watch the game, and with the team we had shouldnt have lost at home. but ramon has this idea that 4-5-1 works. or that a team like san lorenzo should use it. the thing is that if it was another coach and certain players werent brought in then i dont see a coach repedetly using that strategy staying for long at el nuevo gasometro. however san loreno should have all cannons towards the libertadores so i dont see us winning the clasura.
I hope that boca will win Clausura and return to the way of victories especially after riki's return.
Ramon is trying to use a 4-2-3-1, Italian style ... in which the "3" has 3 mixed midfielders that defend and attack. Simeone is using the same, after the "dance he received with his 3-3-3-1 ... but el Cholo is using 3 forwards in that line of "3" It seems that in Venezuela, Ramon will again use the same 4-2-3-1 ... but the "3" will be Bilos - Cabezon - Rivero. At least, playing away for the Libertadores, it makes more sense, and has a lot more attacking football in mind. .
I have a question for you. Do the teams that play Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericano have diffrent squadslists in these tournaments, than in the Clausura/Apertura championship? And if that´s the case, why is it like that? It doesn´t make sense to me.
Sometimes they do. Sometimes the mix players. It's like that because it's grueling and tough for the same players to play both tournaments. They need a rest. The Libertadores especially the latter stages it not like the Champions League where they play one or two matches and then take a long break in between. In the Libertadores it's continuous so teams are playing 2 games per week for many weeks in a row. Add to that all the traveling that's involved and the stadium/weather/altitude conditions which affect certain teams much more than others and it's very tough.
I will say us, Club Atlético Independiente of course. Although our current situation isn't the best, we tripped in the first match and an interesting number of the supporters are losing patience and many don't seem to catch the idea of long term projects, meanwhile Troglio set himself the saturday is the decisive date, he could be gone next week if there isn't a positive result the saturday. If not i see Vélez and Estudiantes having a good shot in the race for the championship, true thing is Estudiantes is playing a cup and Vélez isn't. Regarding relegation i see Tigre and Huracán staying, although Huracán could be complicated next season. And regarding the "traditional" names that could fall, i see either Racing or Central falling, not both, maybe one now and the other next season, hopefully Racing first.
