While I support Germany, I feel it is Spain's year. With Casillas as the best in form keeper in the world right now, Torres on fire, a strong midfield, and a solid defense... they've got a decent shot.

Spain and Germany are obvious favorites in my opinion, while Holland are also strong contenders with a very talented squad on paper..its just a matter of them being able to put it all together..

If Spain don't fall at the quarterfinals like always.... they could go all the way.

Spain is my pick. I will give Netherlands a shot at it, if they make it out of their ridiculous group.

I have a good feeling a underdog will win this (Switzerland, Romania, Russia, Greece, Poland etc..) Though if I were to pick, Germany seems really strong though they have to get their first win in Euro since they won the thing. I see France also doing well though I'm not so updated on their team.

If an underdog were to win it I'd hope it would be Turkey or Romania

I think this is a tough one to call. I support Germany, and of course I hope they take it, but I don't see any one team that is that much ahead going into the competition.

I see a few upsets, but i believe one of the strong teams will win and not a surprise like the last time.

Germany, France, Italy and Spain I think could be deemed as favourites with Holland possibly in there if they can play as a team...hmmm, i've heard that before.

Croatia, Greece, Russia and Turkey will be up for it.

Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, Romania, Poland may have moments, but ultimately, I don't think they are strong enough.

It should come to who has the most balanced player list overall.

So far: Germany, France and Italy are the most balanced back to front.

I didn't list Spain because I don't rate there defense plus Puyol is coming in this tournament in very poor form.

I want to ask a question.

Would alot of you view Portugal differently if we had a top class striker, is that the only thin line between people believing in us, and not?

Say we had Luca toni or Torres..hell, even Trezeguet who wasnt called for France..

    Thoughts?

I think what we've seen in international football of late is that the best team wins the prizes, not necessarily the side with the most world class players. So to answer your question: no it wouldn't make a difference. By the way, lots of people believe Portugal have a very good chance of winning this.

The biggest thing from keeping me from giving Portugal a great shot is their lack of a forward. They are a team of midfielders.

Germany got my vote, but it's a very balanced field. Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Holland are the favorites in my eyes (in that order).

Portugal are a Luca Toni away from being a top contender. Nuno Gomes shouldnt be anywhere near their national team and Hugo Viana is a start but still not world class which they deperately need.
