    Officially, it's still Ivan's.

So, there should be some exotic three way competition for charity. Winner get's #8.

Have the three of them (or the two able bodied ones...or Ivan can have a proxy) go through a series of skills drills, have it open for fans to come at say $2 to $5 a head.

I propose getting their wives to have a three-way Jell-O wrestle for it.

That I'd pay good money for.

Where is the fun in that? :D

I believe that if Ivan retires, the precious #8 will get moved. If Ivan doesn't then he retains the precious #8 for another season...

The bigger question is if Harkes gets #6!

It appears stoitchkov gets 8, stewart 9 and kovalenko 21. I suppose that could change, but that was the last I heard.

Steven, does that mean Ivan is retiring, or is that still in negotiation? Thanks for the good work.

Without question. It's his damn number. Judah and Lazo were only renting it until he got back to DC.

    the real #23

While Pope may be DCU's #23, he chose the number because it was Michael Jordan's, so it wouldn't really bug me if say another North Carolinian wanted to do the same.

I think people were just curious. I doubt anyone cares enough to bet on it.

    This seems a dubious assumption.

Let's hope that #9 brings Earnie more health, motivation and, most importantly, goals than it did for that guy who wore it last year.

    perhaps...um.....David Stokes???

I am with lanky134 on this one, however. Retire that bad boy and hang it from the upper level.

I once asked his father if that was the case, and he said it was merely a coincidence.

not that it probably matters but earnie never wore #8 for NAC, just the Nats. i pressume you have more lattitude on your club than on the select team to choose a number, so he may not have been all that attached to 8.

I will be very surprised if Ray does not retire McKinley's number.

Tino would look much better in the #11 shirt. I just don't see #25 having good karma for him - time for a change...

    NOOOO!

No one should EVER don the #11 shirt again! It's cursed. Look at the various people who have worn that number:

    Jason Moore
    Chris Albright
    Pete Marino
    Villegas

    Burn the #11 shirt now.
