Have you guys considered that all this negativity against the Revs' new coach from its most loyal fans will make it that much harder for Heaps to be successful? Not only does he have to deal with all the problems and constraints that comes from being the Revs coach, but now he starts with an unsupportive fan base too.
I don't want to start any blasphemous rumors... If Jay is really thin-skinned enough that is distracts him from his job to know that there are people who are upset by this move, he'll be an even worse manager than we all thought
Funniest part about this (In a "We're all going to die alone and miserable; isn't that funny?" kind of a way) is that no one on this thread actually suggested Jay until The Globe brought it up. As much as we could spell doomsday from this decision, none of us forwsaw anything this bad.
You may be right on that theory. That even further puts dirt on the decision from the FO. It is part of the FO's job to understand and project how any signing will play out in the public. They work for us, the consumer. They answer to us. Regardless of whether we are right or not, our opinions need to be taken into account. If not, then your scenario could be likely. That isn't our fault. That is the fault of a naive management.
My son's going to be bummed when he finds out he missed his chance to coach the Revs. He'd have done the job for even less money than Heaps is getting, and based on seeing the two of them play he probably has more tactical awareness than Heaps.
