I wouldn't know where to look back. It was on the old RPB forum, which wasn't backed up, so it's not available on the new forum. I could be wrong but I think it was posted by a user known to be a member of TFC's front office staff. Quite a few members of TFC's front office staff routinely post on the RPB forums. Even National media personalities do so.

Bud owns a part of Widmer, a minority part of Widmer, but yes, that can help to make Widmer the jersey sponsor for the Portland Timbers.

I'd love to see the Adidas "Originals" brand Portland with cool retro like kits. It's a seperate division of the Adidas...and Portland is Adidas.

Definitely a good idea. They might even go so far as to make really awesome fleeces and rain-gear with team colors and logos. And I think it would be cool to have Gert Boyle out there promoting us!

XBOX is a major MLS Sponsor... Would be a good sponsor for Portland, but Garber doesn't want it!

This is MLS, isn't Europe or South America, Here the league and the clubs are a single-entity, when a team does business with a company that means that all the teams are doing business with that specific company!

I'm well aware of how it works, thanks. Although, the single-entity deal isn't as cut and dry as you seem to believe. The only "business" that the rest of the league is doing with XBOX (microsoft) is whatever portion of the 200K flat fee that was paid to the league that they're entitled too (if it even works that way). That, and perhaps the ad space they get across the spectrum of MLS venues. However, the 4m per year that the contract is worth is going to Seattle and nobody else.

That said, there won't be an XBOX logo on the chest of two clubs. They are the kit sponsor for Seattle, period.

What about Comex and Glidden? Herbalife and Amway(Nutrilite)? These are all competing in companies in the same industries.

Thinking along the lines of MLS sponsors either we end up with Sherwin Williams, Toyota or Cutco.

To be fair, Comex had their spsonsorship deal in place before Glidden had their deal to be the official paint sponsor of MLS. As for Herbalife and Amway, I doubt MLS has an "Official Pyramid Scheme Sponsor."

Perhaps surprisingly, but not so much.

I love the idea of Widmers....except that it would hamper my usual policy of drinking a wide variety of beers. If Widmer is the sponsor, I would be (almost) exclusively a Widmer guy.

I think NWA has a gorgeous logo. I'd love to see it on an MLS jersey. Do they have a major PDX presence?

No. Alaska Airlines would be a more likely sponsor of Portland.

Actually Horizon would be the best as they are actually hubbed here.

Hubs! That's the word I was looking for.

As far as that quote, true, but Horizon is an arm of Alaska, so would it be better for the company to advertise Alaska instead? I'm not sure. I'm just asking. Alaska is more universal an airline.

I absolutely love Horizon's logo, though.

Yeah, except Alaska and Horizon are both out of Seattle, but Horizon's essential operations are out of Portland while Alaska's are out of Seattle. Portland serves as a hub for both, and no other airline. I'd prefer Horizon if only to avoid having the name of another state on the kits.
