I've voted Kerr as the most likely to get it, but I'd rather it was Kinnear or Dalgliesh myself.

I read that Kerr has already had his interview with the FAI. Report also said plan was to have the new man in by the end of the month.

Kerr is now 1/2 favourite with the bookies. I think everyone has been favourite at some stage now!

My money has always been on Kerr, even before McCarthy was sacked. I'm not changing my mind now...

Kinnear with Kerr as his number two would be so damn good that the FAI would never think of it. Both would go for it and their styles compliment each other so well imo, also both have proven records with very different styled teams. I still have my doubts about Kerr going it alone, soley because of the success rate of past youth managers turned senior. If we get Kinnear and Kerr in as his number two (Not as a pair where they're both managers because that'll never work) we'll have something good on. Pity it wont happen in a million years.

What about David O'Leary? I think he would be a good fit for the Irish job.

He ruled himself almost straight away, seems a bit strange since he has been out of a job for a while now.

It's a shame because he is probably the best Irish manager out there. Look at Leeds without him.

Brian Kerr all the way, or failing that, Dalglish

    Kinnear

You may have to cross Joe off that list as he is reported as having rejected the chance of an interview with the FAI saying he "doesn't do interviews".

    Re: Kinnear

I find that hard to believe, he had an interview in '96 and only personal terms stopped him getting the job. He said he wanted it just before McCarthy left too. Kinnear in, Kerr as number two and were laughing.

    Kinnear ...don't think so

The latest I have read is that Kinnear has ruled himself out by not doing an interview for the job , so he can come off the lsit.

Pity , he was a decent option . I suppose if he thinks he is too big for an interview like the rest of them he can take a hike....Fair is fair.

That Kinnear thing was just on Sky, I hope he's been mis quoted because he's my first choice and it really doesn't sound like him.

How can you get a job without an interview?

Because he feels his stunning achievements of winning the.....ehhhm............the World Cup with Wimbledon and.......eehhrrrm........the European Championships with Luton Town should speak for themselves.

He said that "everyone knows what I can do", so the FAI can give him the job if they want, but he doesn't do interviews. Hamilton rang him to ask him to be on the shortlist and come in for an interview, but crossed him off after getting that response.

It's hard to defend Kinnear after that, but I still maintain he's the best man for the job, with Kerr as number two.

I voted for Kerr, the people's choice. But then again, the people's choice doesn't always get results. Sure look at England under Keegan.

Kinnear was my first choice too, perhaps he just doesn't want the job and this is his way of backing out?

I'll have to go with Brian Kerr now. Compared to the likes of Keane, Connolly and now Kinnear, Kerr's genuine enthusiam for Irish football is refreshing.
