With the changing of a Head Coach, normally the entire coaching staff is replaced to accomidate the new regime. Bob Bradley is unlikely to bring back Merlion Villagomez(who is an OZ deciple) Bradley could go with Manfred Shellnisdt(spelling?) his old pal from Seton Hall. Maybe Bob Reasso(Rutgers) or even Tab Ramos. Any Ideas out there?

I don't think it's likely that Reasso or Schellscheidt would give up good gigs as a college head coach to take the Metros assistantship, but then again, BB went from Princeton to the assistant job in DC.

Maybe Bob will bring in a former player he likes and respects as an assistant-- perhaps one of his Princeton boys like Jesse Marsch or Andrew Lewis. Richie Williams may be at the end of his MLS career, if Ray Hudson has given up on him, and I've always thought he was a future coach.

It's going to hinge a good deal on who is named Chicago head coach, I think.

I wanna keep both Merlin and Stu. Merlin should be kept out of a role that requires being a disciplinarian though. Stu is a very nice type too - not much into laying down the iron hand. Need balance though. Don't need any power trippers.

Richie Williams would also make a great jockey. It has nothing to do with his height - I just think with proper training Richie can leverage his shin kicking and use it to drive a horse to victory.

  9. I think Billy Walsh would be a good choice

    Donadoni!!

Seriously, maybe Ammann could be an assistant. Probably not while Nick's in charge. Or possibly Dooley. Both are veterans of the team, and have gotten the respect of the fans.

BTW, wasn't Dooley on the bench in 2001 during the playoffs?

In all seriousness one who would be a good assistant is Jeff Aunger. I think he and Bradley would work well together, and Aunger played under Bradley at DC United.

    "even Tab Ramos'

I will believe that when I see it. He could be useful in working with the players with Plyometrics.

Tab has been the captain and #10 for the Metros from its inception to now. That has been the one stable factor in a team that has had an extraordinary amount of turnover in player personnel and in coaches.

Metros have paid him max salary for most of that time, and whatever his salary has been the last 2 or 3 years, it probably was close to max.

Whether he deserved the honor of being captain or the high salary is another issue.

It would be shocking if they suddenly abandoned him without offering him a position somewhere in the organization. His many fans would want to see him around.

His "many" fans never got a chance to see him. Why would he want to give them a chance now?
