I know Reyna will probably be captain for at least 2-3 more yers, but who will be after that? A list that I can think up of that are possibilities are Sanneh, Pope, Friedel, Donovan, JOB, or Mastroeni, depending on his performances over the next year or so.

I can go along with JOB or Donovan....but I'd like to see Pablo in that role.

i'm available to meet all of your captaining needs.
however, if Bruce chooses to go in another direction I think JOB would be a worthy choice.
But I would also nominate Eddie Pope because he seems to have the respect of his teammates.

Reyna is taking a break from "full internationals" to concentrate on staving off Sunderland's relegation.

I would expect Stewart, Jones, Agoos and Moore to retire as well, if they haven't done so.

Maybe McBride as captain in the short term with O'Brien easing into the role by the time World Cup Qualifying starts.

if Pope plans on competing in Germany '06 he should be captain. He is one of the best players as well as being on the team the longest.
If not him than O'Brien. LD is way too young still.

JOB was our best player at the past WC, was our best player at the Olympics and is going to be out best player for the forseeable future. JOB should be the captain.

isn't there something more to being a team captain then being the best player?

    Something about leading the team?

Standing up for the team at all costs?

Getting along with all the other players?

Maybe i'm nieve, but I thought these qualities were almost more important then playing ability when determing a team capatain.

    I would agree with JOB
If Donovan is our star player, do we want him dealing with the added pressure of the captaincy?

JOB is a great player for the U.S. Nats and I could foresee him as captain, but how much playing time is he getting with Ajax?

He not only starts every game for them, but he'll also be one of the best players on the field.

FORZA JOB! I didn't know he started every game. That's awesome. I didn't think he started at all! Does anyone know how old he is?

Friedel/Keller have done it most when Reyna isn't available. I would expect that to continue should he retire.

You're right about all of that, and it still should be JOB for all those reasons, in addition to him being our best player.

Why when he gets older? Michael Owen, at 22 is the English skipper when Becks isn't around
