Forgetting a Leagues Cup title? Campeones Cup title? CCL Final appearance? Another Campeones Cup final appearance? Coaching one of the greatest team in league history? Porter fluked into a covid title, and then missed the playoffs three times. He would've loved a first round loss on his resume.
One could certainly make that case. Especially clubbing a favored Seattle at home w/o Nagbe and Santos. Porter won an MLS Cup and a Campeones Cup. Nancy won an MLS Cup and Leagues Cup. Of course, he also got a runner's up spot for the Campeones Cup and a much more hard-to-earn 2nd place standing in the CONCACAF CC. Nancy didn't win a Campeones Cup. Personally, I'm not very excited about coaches taking up spots in any cirlcle of honor. Maybe that's just me.
Sorry, I meant Marshall and Federico Higuain.....No you weren't drunk enough on that evening to make it up, although he did not personally attend the induction ceremony!
If you really want to full Scottish and Celtic, I offer you this: No English captioning, unfortunately. But there are timestamps to where they discuss Nancy’s appointment and his first match.
No, it isn't just you. In terms of hardware: Andrulis: 2002 USOC, 2004 SS Sigi: 2008 SS, 2008 MLS Cup Warzycha: 2009 SS Porter: 2020 MLS Cup, 2021 Campeones Nancy: 2023 MLS Cup, 2024 League Cup Runner Up: Fitzgerald: 1998 USOC Warzycha: 2010 USOC Berhalter: 2015 MLS Cup Nancy: 2024 CCC, 2024 Campeones, 2024 SS As for the players, I think Marshall should be next. Then Nagbe as soon as he is eligible. After that? Cucho, Zelarayan, and Morris. Then you have the next level down. Cunningham, John, Warzycha, Mais, Clark, Gaven, Pipa, Meram, Zardes, Mensah, Moreira, Rossi + maybe a few others.
Was Morris here long enough to count? 105 times in all comps. 2 full seasons basically with a little before leaving and some as he just broke into the team.
While what players - or coaches - accomplish in their careers beyond what they did in Columbus shouldn't matter when making these determinations, I assume they do. Personally, I don't have a problem with that. I mean, if Nancy succeeds in Europe and ends up coaching at a huge club in one of the top leagues, his inclusion in our ring of honor will be elevated by his broader accomplishments. If Middlesbrough are promoted, Morris tears it up in the Premiership and ends up having a stellar carer in Europe, same thing.
I never thought of it that way. Thanks Dad! It shocked the heck out of me. I had to think back through it.
Not sure if it was the first game but, yes. Very early on in 2020 he suffered a non-contact knee injury that killed off his entire season. It was at home, as I recall. Jimmy was in attendance and there was video of the owner consoling his distraught player on the sidelines after the game. EDIT: As @chr1st noted, this was obviously not 2020 but 2021. Such a disappointing injury. But he sure as hell worked himself back into form.
It was 2021 at home against Real Esteli in CCL. Came on the heels of him bossing Seattle in MLS Cup 2020.
Wonder if Nancy will last three games. Celtic is getting smoked by Roma in the Europa League 3-0 at the half.
When the announcers are discussing how bad they feel for the coach, and its only halftime, things are dire. They cant even make a PK
I mean, he can't be that naive, but Nancy's been a head coach since 2021 and has never been in a situation where his job is under threat. In all seriousness, he has a 2.5 year contract. I doubt his job is in jeopardy now. Still, feeling the heat is a new experience for him.
