Having never seen Diego or Kaka really play much. I was curious. What role do you speculate they will play in Brazil's 2006 midfield alongside Ronaldinho? Who will play in "the hole", who will be on the flanks? Any comments.

i can't imagine either displacing ronaldinho, but kaka might do well in a van der vaart type position (to the left)

good question, lots of forwards yet I havent seen a true 10, I guess Ronaldinho is the obvious answer.

From what I've been reading, Diego prefers to play in "the hole". Ronaldinho is very versatile. He could even play on the wings. I personally doubt Ronaldo will last untill WC 2006. Here is how I see the Brazilian attack. Note, that I have never seen Robinho play and have seen little of Diego and Kaka. What do you guys think?

    --------------Robinho -------------Adriano
    ------------------------Diego
    ---------------Kaka----------------Ronaldinho

    -------------------(some tough Defensive Mid)

I would let Kaka sit on the bench - quality player, but the team I believe will look something like this:

    Marcos
    Lucio...Edmilson.....Roque Jr
    (a.n. other).................Fabio Aurelio
    Diego.....Ronaldinho
    Robinho....Ronaldo.....Adriano

Just my opinion. Kaka can fill any forward of centre mid position if needed. Daniel Carvalho and Cleiton Xavier are two to watch as well.

Hmm. I don't know. Ronaldinho should have a role where he can roam and create wherever he wants. Maybe like Rivaldo at the last world cup. Maybe Robinho will be on the bench or on the flank.I Don't know if an Adriano and Ronaldo forward duo would do very well or not. Maybe MiGKiller or Alex_1 could put in some input.

    Offensive lineup!

"a.n. other" would probably be Gilberto Silva. He will be I think 29 or 30 at the next World Cup. And don't be surprised if Rivaldo and Roberto Carlos are still in the mix - same for Kleberson if he gets his act in gear. At least they'll be there for some qualifying games. I wouldn't be so hasty in getting rid of the "old guard". Although the confederations cup was disappointing, Alex also played well. My memory is foggy but I think he was on the Olympic team and youth team that withsI think it could almost be assumed that if Parreira is booted, those guys I listed will still be in the mix as well as the usual suspects. Both Juninho's may be out of the mix though - which may actually be the time for the younger players to step in.

Diego and Robinho are talented but I still think they have a to learn about reading the match. You look at Diego's touch and ball skills it's amazing. But I honestly do think that the youth tournaments and Olympics may help them somewhat in getting an introduction to the international game (provided Brazil qualify). I don't know if they will get a call into the full Selecao - nobody can read Parreira's strategy. Kaka hasn't actually been playing so well for Sao Paulo. Hopefully he will find his 2001-2002 form again and live up to the hype he receved in 2002 as the Brasileiro player dating Mariah Carey. :D

At the end of the day, Parreira seems to have ideas about the players, young and old. What exactly they are nobody seems to know - Brazilian or not Brazilian.

""According to an online report, Mariah Carey "couldn't keep her hands off" 20-year-old Brazilian singing sensation Kaka"".

Kaka is a singer?? Does he speak English?

My main concern for the selecao is Cafu's replacement and maybe a replacement for Roberto Carlos.

At the pace DIEGO is going he will be a sure starter in the 2006 WC, posibly the #10. This kid is REALLY talented.

Robinho depends. Depends on if he expands his game beyond Denilson dribbling. He has been a clutch player though so anything can happen, but I would expect to see Robinho as an off the bench player in the 2006 WC.

Ronaldo will be there as long as his body holds up and Ronaldinho will absolutley be a starter though not a #10.

Kaka is going through a serious slump right now and coming off injury. Some people say he is distracted. He is also not a #10 player, he is more of a Ronaldinho type.

The big question is will Rivaldo be there, does he still have 1 more WC in him?

Ive said it before, Brazil has a chance of making a super team in 2006 if everything falls into place.

As an Inter fan I know these two well. Daniel Carvalho is a very good player, would easily be on the US national team for example. He needs a little more exposure and Inters current run for the title may give him that.

Cleiton Xavier on the other hand is Inters most overrated player. From the games Ive seen I find him soft and quite frankly not that good. Inter has another 18 year old forward that is coming out strong named NILMAR and also the Twins DIEGO & DIOGO which if they hold up to promise may make things happen.
