Many people have been posting that we need to get rid of Trezeguet. This is because he often fails to score and doesn't appear to be happy here. We need a more effective striker but people fail to give names of players they'd want to replace him. I just want to know if anyone knows possible replacements or you could just say what player you want to come to Turin. Morientes is an awesome scorer and will be for sale, maybe we could get him. Ibrahomovic of Ajax has come up a lot but I think he is the same type of player as Trez.
I watched Monaco's Champions League tie with Chelsea last Tuesday and was struck by the amount of work that Fernando Morientes put in for the French club. Nominally, he is a target man, but he readily drops deep to create space for teammates. He is such a decisive player. His seems to have a new lease on life. I guess being away from all the pressures of the Bernabeu has allowed his best qualities to shine through. However, if I were Juve's management, I would not enlist his services as he is now 28 and an adequate replacement would have to be found in the not-too-distant future. I too think that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is too much like Trezeguet- he does not sacrifice enough for the team. I am afraid that bringing him on board would be taking a step backwards, actually. Fresh-faced Alberto Gilardino of Parma has come out of nowhere to become one of the best young goalscorers around. He supported Juve as a child and has not ruled out a move to the Bianconeri. He has insisted, however, that he is still very young and that another year or so of seasoning with the provincial outfit would do him no end of good. Given the Emilian side's well-documented financial troubles, don't be surprised if Juve table a princely sum to spirit the youngster away to the Stadio Delle Alpi next season. Gilardino is my favorite to succeed Trezeguet because he would not need to acclimate to a different style of football. Coping with enormous expectations is all that would be required of him. If we fail to land the young Italian, another valid option would be River Plate starlet Fernado Cavenaghi. Touted as the new Hernan Crespo, the 20-year Argentine possesses an impressive strike rate for the Buenos Aires giants. I know that bagging goals in Argentina and delivering the goods in Serie A are worlds apart, but this guy is exactly what the doctor ordered: a young, skilful forward eager to prove his worth to the European public. Argentines adjust rather well to the demanding environment of calcio. His Italian roots should serve to accelerate the acclimatisation process.
I always felt that Real did not appreciate the full potential of Moro. In the end he has come back to haunt them. Juve need a striker who can do more than just wait for the ball in a scoring position and Moro could be that man.
Fernando Torres?? He's definitley a hot scratch and Juve have been linked to him for quite some time now.
Alberto Gilardino (PARMA) Christian Vieri (INTER MILAN) Andrea Caracciolo (BRESCIA) Zlatan Ibrahimovic (AJAX) Alan Smith (LEEDS) Patrick Kluivert (BARCELONA) Fernando Morientes (MONACO) Fernando Cavenaghi (RIVER PLATE) Mateja Kezman (P.S.V.) All these strikers could be available this summer. Everyone is quality some more proven than others but with some you get the gift of youth and as such can plan for future as well as present.
I'm surprised that noone here has mentioned Chevanton. He is almost definately leaving Lecce, and while Milan have shown a fair amount of interest, he is by no means wrapped up.
The key to replacing Trezeguet is u need a real hitman striker. Though Chevanton has scored 19 this year many have come from free kicks and penalties which is Del Piero territory at Juve. Chevanton laos is the kind of striker who needs to have the ball in his possession often rather than finishing any oppurtunity presented.
I see him more as a combination striker, he has shown can be the target man as well as the creative side of a paring. Yes, he has had a fair number of goals come off of free kicks and penalties, he has scored a number of them as the target man, as well as creating a number of chances for his teammates. He is among the more versatile strikers I have seen.
Alberto Gilardino Italy This guy seems to have a great future ahead of him. He is very young and very good. If Claudio Prandelli does indeed take the Juventus job then Alberto Gilardino could very well follow. He is my favourite to be Trezeguet's replacement.
