C'mon... 11 pages of commentary and no poll? Let's put some numbers on the interest levels here & save ESPN the focus group $$$.

Whoever voted for Phil Schoen should be taken out and beaten.

I don't like saying bad things about people. Perhaps Phil is a great guy, and I don't know whether I could have done a better job than him, but he was so clueless at times about what was going on in the game that he made Jack and Ty look really good.

    Just my opinion.

Either JP or Rob Stone for play-by-play.

I dunno about replacing Ty. A couple "Dude your getting a card", or "He's only 20 years old, he'll feel better tomorrow" remarks can't be so bad. :)

    Nobody.

Let Ty do the broadcasts by himself.

I know the perfect announcer for the job.

    He's enthusiastic.

    He's experienced.

    He knows MLS insid-out.

He works well with the guy already doing color commentary.

Too bad he's the guy ESPN is going to get rid of. Wankers.

No, you must have misread the question. That's the answer to, "Who should accompany Ty as parking lot entrance speed bumps for the next men's national team match".

    Gak, NO!

JP and Tommy are a slight step up the evolutionary scale from Twibell and Malin (that wonderful duo we had in '94/'95), but it's a microscopic one...

JP is weak and bland, and I don;t even want to get started on Tommy and his Tranmere Rovers stories...

(I still remember the US/Ireland deluge in Foxboro when Jack was stuck between Seamus and Tommy...oh, the horror!!!)

Burgess and either Lalas or Harkes...

I have no idea if he's charismatic enough, but Tab Ramos? I didn't think much of Wynalda's petty arguing with Giorgio during World Cup pre-game shows. DC United is going absolutely nowhere with or without him, so what about Ray Hudson? BTW, I personally like Tommy Smyth, he's the only ESPN guy that can even get me to smile, let alone laugh.

There are only two legitimate choices IMO - JP or Bretos. I admittedly have not heard the guy from Columbus call a game.

Please do not pick Rob Stone. I like him, but not as a play by play guy.

And while Jack has taken a beating on these boards, often a classless beating, I think he deserves serious props for his dedication to the USMNT.

Oh yeah!!! I love Dave Johnson!! Too bad he already has about a half dozen jobs here in DC.

    - Sports reporter for WTOP
    - Part-time DC United tv broadcaster
    - Part-time DC United P.A. guy
    - Full-time Wash. Wizards radio guy
    - Fan of Craftmatic Adjustable bed... (WTOP listeners get this)

The obvious and best choice is, quite simply, me.

His name is Toby Charles. He wouldn't be a bad third choice.

Tony Tirado would be the obvious second choice were his health to permit it. His English is better than that of most of the Americans who post here.

J.P. and Tommy as one team

Derek Rae and Seamus Malin as another team

Somebody and Lalas when Lalas retires
