And would be the best choice in my eyes!

The question is how realistic this option will be...

Deschamps would be great, but isn't it all about Sheridan at this point?

I'm born and bred in America, my Grandfather was born in Limerick, Ireland and moved to the US when he was young thus my interest in the Irish NT. My Grandmother is of English descent but that's rather dubious. I'm not Romanian, look Romanian, nor do I speak Romanian (well at least). My father's friend is from Romania and he is best mates with the Romanian FA President Mircea Sandu therefore I get alot of free gear, and even made the trip to Holland to see them play last March. Might be going to Austria/Switzerland with them this summer so of course I follow them.

The following of Newcastle stems from my last name being Toon. (formerly O'Toone until my family's name was changed upon arrival at Ellis Island. They came here and then moved back to Ireland before the birth of my Grandfather.) Anyway, I felt it was only right I followed a team that used my surname as a nickname.

    Any other questions?

David O'Leary has officially taken his hat out of the ring!

What realistic candidates does that leave us with?
I dont think deschamps would take it, same goes for Houlier.

My first choice was Roy Hodgson and he's with Fulham now.

HOULLIER SET FOR IRELAND POST - REPORTS

Gerard Houllier has emerged as a strong - and shock - contender to become the Republic of Ireland's new manager.

Although reports that the former Liverpool boss is on the verge of being appointed appear premature, the Frenchman has emerged as a frontrunner to fill the vacant manager.

It is believed that Houllier has held talks with the FAI's three-man management committee last week and they are ready to recommend him as their preferred candidate.

So its back to square one then
16.5 days until we play Brazil, this match will probably televised in quite a few places, we want good exposure, not a team with Don Givens at the helm

    Hi for all.
I found a site on the Internet for anyone who want to buy a percentage of professional football players.
We will come the possibility of any of us can buy a percentage of a player, like Henry, Ronaldo, etc?
It seems to be a very innovative concept, and I think it is useful to provide a look there.
    The site is http://www.realplayermanager.com

Lots of money being put down on Brady today... it's possible we'll know who the candidate is later tonight or tomorrow.

Nope, I don't Souness is the man for the job. Not really an Ireland NT supporter myself (though I am of Irish descent), but my father is. I think the FAI should go with someone with world class management or stcik with an Irishman

well I dunno, Souness is a motivator who got down to the last few for the Scotland job, I think he would do a job with a wee country like Ireland

Well this might be just me, but I'm under the impression that not only does Ireland have a larger population (I believe) but they produce a greater number of quality players.
