If we are going to lose a coach, and the GM sucks donkey dick then you might as well replace both at the same time. Dont have the donkey dick sucking GM pick a coach and then fire that GM a year later and hire a GM who dont like the new coach. If youre going to clean house then clean the damn house!
I'm just wondering if Bill Archer or Eboe stole your password. But yeah, you do have a point. I'd rather the "guy up top" pick the subordinates, but it seems we may not be afforded that luxury. Who'd want to come here if they know the GM is on thin ice?
I was on Team Hugo in a hard way last time around. Don't get me wrong, still love a Hugo, but I've moved on. Here's a good piece for those not familiar -- https://rg.org/news/soccer/hugo-perez-opens-up-on-storybook-career I'm getting a little more keen on Almiron or someone like Ariel Holan. Yes, they are older sud-americanos that likely have no clue what the MLS game is. However, especially with Holan I have heard of fast transitions and a strong offensive mindset from both.
My top two choices, Karl-Marius Aksum (took over at Mjällby) and Ryan Martin (Oakland Roots) both got new jobs on the same day a few weeks ago. My top choice now would be Pellegrino Matarazzo with Nate Weiss as assistant. From the Americas, I like both Nicolas Larcamón (Cruz Azul) and Javier Gandolfi (Atletico Nacional) but not sure how sensible either would be. Of course Guille would be a real coup wouldn't he but he has Velez going well at the moment.
Brian Bliss!! He is back in the organization. Has coached the Crew on an interim basis in the past. Played for the Crew. And he was one of my late uncle's favorite players on the Cleveland Force during their final season in 1987-88. Brian Bliss for Crew coach 2026!
https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/68...el-bradley-new-york-red-bulls-coach-mls-news/ Looking like Red Bulls may be promoting in house for their coach. This removes some of our competition.
We should be looking with someone with better pedigree. Struggled identifying talent last go around with the club.
Has Knudsen from Bodo Glimt been snapped up by a bigger Euro club yet? That seems to be his future. His contract expires this month.
Honestly, I don't care if Noonan has been coaching FCC, there are plenty of times someone has gone to coach a rival and done a great job. Plus, he was on the 08 squad.
This adds nothing of substance to the conversation. Still, it’s not everyday the Dispatch publishes a piece about the Crew: https://www.dispatch.com/story/spor...columbus-crew-mls-coach/87240513007/?tbref=hp
