I suppose the question all depends if Lars is available for the Gold Cup. Lars or Pat Onstad? I thought Pat Onstad had one of his best games in a few years today against Germany. He was left out to dry a few times by some horrible defence. Is Lars the keeper of the future? He hasn't impressed me that much since his debut in the Gold Cup.
Here's the link. Note that de Guzman, Stalteri, and Nsaliwa have the next highest ratings. No argument from me on any of the ratings. I think they nailed the problem area in our central defense. http://www.kicker.de/content/spielp...2/03&spieltag=34&spielpaarung=627499&turnier=
My objection would be to Dasovic & Nash being rated equally, with Nash completing most of his passes & setting up the goal and Dasovic barely completing any. And whatever mark Imhof gets, Dasovic has to be lower. Neither were super-effective in midfield, but I don't recall Imhof giving the ball up at every available opportunity the way Dasovic did. I think the Dasovic mark should be 5 or 5.5.
Re: LARS He is coming off an injury and hasn't played a lot of games over the past few months. Pat Onstad has been playing well with San Jose, and is probably in better form at the moment.
I wouldn't mind getting a chance to see Mike Franks play in goal for Canada at some point. Perhaps we will see him during the WCQ? I seriously don't think Lars is our #1 at the moment, and I think the position is up for grabs. Right now Onstad has shown the most out of all the Canadian keepers...
Pat against Costa Rica, Lars against Cuba, go with sharpest for semi-final. Gotta go with Pat, he's hot and flowin' now. I guess sharpness will be determined with training camp, but Holger seems to agree, as he put Pat on top of list, Lars at bottom, of 18 list.
Apparently Pat Onstad hurt his hand in yesterday's match for San Jose. Don't know how badly, or if it will affect who will start vs. Costa Rica. On a related note, Kenny Stamatopoulos (still fairly young for a keeper, at age 24) picked up the win in his debut in the Swedish Premier League. Lets hope he continues to play regularly, as this is one position we need more depth in.
Chances are he will play regulary. There was a lot of good words about him in media after the match. If you're interested, there is a 2 min real player-file from his debut match at http://svt.se/content/1/c6/09/87/97/030706_esk_gif_hi.ram with a great save just a couple of seconds in. Stamatopoulos' team, Enköping, are the ones in green.
- Tom Lindley. Even though, when I played against him during the summer of 99, I had more shutouts and let in less goals than him, playing for a weaker team. But for some reason, that didn't even get me a try-out for the provincial team, when he was on the national team at the time, and still is. And now playing in England.
