Okay, do you have anybody running the 1600m? How about the 10000m? How about anybody in the heptathlon or decathlon? Marathon? And when we think of the Olys, we not only include T&F, but swimming, gymnastics, and a whole host of other sports. It is the Olympics, not the T&F world championships. mod note: when posting an article, post the first paragraph or two and then link the article. Anybody else posting an entire article will be infracted.
Usain Bolt has 1 world record, Michael Phelps has 7 (3 of them in relays). In two events (the 200m and 400m individual medley), Phelps has set the world record EIGHT times . He's also set the 200m butterfly world record 7 times Bolt just has to set the 100m world record 5 more times to catch Phelps
all credit to phelps, but i don't care if someone wins 8 or 18 golds in swimming. as a spectacle, swimming leaves me completely cold . and there are also too many similar disciplines that make it possible to win more medals.
I think Australia hasn't done that great in the pool when its come to winning Gold. We have had 5 or 6 people who hold the world record for there event and haven't one gold.
In the UK we have Michael Johnson as a co presenter for the Olympics as he has done before. The man is a legend. Michael Johnson as Usain Bolt realises he has won gold and Just to back up the argument over T&F/Swimming when Johnson was asked afterwards how Bolt's achievment would be considered in the Olympics Johnson replied 'Michael who?' reffering to Phelps
U.S. Men’s Basketball Team Cruises Past Germany United States 106, Germany 57 Unlikely Savior Rallies American Track Team American Angelo Taylor has won the men’s Olympic 400-meter hurdles, finishing in 47.25 seconds to lead a U.S. sweep in the event. In a Flash, a Kenyan Woman Claims Gold On Monday night, Kenya finally got a gold medal of its own, as the teenage phenom Pamela Jelimo won a decisive victory in the 800 meters in 1 minute 54.87 seconds. U.S. Women’s Soccer Team Advances to Final Angela Hucles scored a goal in each half to lead the United States to a victory over Japan and another Olympic final against Brazil.
What a bullshit rule. You can't post full articles? oh I see if the topic was phelps domnates you wouldn't be tellin' me that. Fu*king hater!
If you actually would take a second or three, you would notice that I put a warning in my post, and sometime later ProfZodiac edited your post. Chill out a bit, as it is just like Prawn said - copyright.
Michael Johnson is obviously biased towards track & field If Mark Spitz was a 'co-presenter' he would say the opposite..."Usain who?"
Wow Lolo Jones how sad in the 100 meter hurdles. She got a bad start and then as she took the lead knocked the 9th hurdle and finished 7th. Amazing.
On the Track, a Cruel Loss and Surprising Victories American sprinter Lolo Jones lost in the 100-meter hurdles, while her teammate, Dawn Harper, grabbed the gold. Also Usain Bolt advanced toward Wednesday’s historic 200-meter race. In Soccer’s Heavyweight Bout, Argentina Wins by a Knockout Argentina beats Brazil, 3-0, and will try to be the first repeat gold medalist in soccer in 40 years.
Mark who? this guy won seven medals and nobody knew who he was until now ? That tells you the world does not give a damn about swimming. They want to see track and field. Not some front stroke, back stroke, left stroke, right stroke, butterfly? Jesse Owens Carl Lewis Mike Johnson Mark Spitz
BEIJING (AP)—Usain Bolt of Jamaica broke the world record by winning the 200 meters in 19.30 seconds Wednesday night, becoming the first man since Carl Lewis in 1984 to sweep the 100 and 200 gold medals at an Olympics. Bolt is the first man ever to break the world marks in both sprints at an Olympics. Not even Lewis or Jesse Owens managed that. Showing what he can do when he runs at full speed all the way through the finish—something he hadn’t done yet in the Beijing Games—Bolt eclipsed the old record of 19.32 seconds set by Michael Johnson in Atlanta in 1996. Go Jamaica!!!!!
who gives a shit who gives a damn about what? Why do you have to discount someone else's achievement? No one knew who Mark Spitz was? do you live in a hole in the ground? seriously.
Ahhhhhhhhhh dear sir thats what I've been trying to figure out on Usain Bolt. Why is that? Chicago is not the world.I ask different people from multiple countries if they knew who Mark Spitz is and their reaction was who? I ask the same question about Carl Lewis and eight out of nine knew who he was.
Slow Start Before Bryant Leads U.S. to Win United States 116, Australia 85 Bolt Breaks World Record and Wins Gold Again Jamaica’s Usain Bolt became the first man to win both the 100 and 200 meters at the same Olympics since Carl Lewis in 1984.
