Rui Costa is still a world class player. When he is at his best, there is no other player on the Portugal roster that can take his spot.
Danny was called up to sporting twice, and both times was sent back to Maritimo. I'm starting to think he's the kind of player that performs well on smaller teams, but can't do well on the big teams in Portugal.

I believe there may be offers, but I don't think that Danny is that good of a player for the big teams, but that my opinion.
Frank, You are comparing Danny with Rui Costa????? Danny can't even beat out players like Viana and Carlos Martins in the U21, never mind taking on Rui.

Thank god u r not coaching Portugal, Frank One thing these young players like Danny are lacking is international experience. The pressure to play for your country at the senior level is immense! Sure, he is very talented but experience is critical at the Euro and World cup levels and Rui has tons of it. Baia is still a good goalie but old..Ricardo should of started in the World Cup You r right the next few games will be tough ones and Scalari will have tough decisions to make. I guess it's better to have an abundance of talent to pick from than none at all..

This is the funniest thing I've ever seen. This line up is pro Benfica and you know what their capable of lol. Why would you choose Ricardo Rocha?? when we have Carvalho!! I would put Deco over Rui Costa and C Ronaldo over Simao. Petit??? have u ever heard of Costina!! there's a reason why Fc Porto is 10000x better then Benfica they have so many better players to choose from. But seriously this line up would get us killed.

Yes, it is a pro-Benfica lineup. And this team would still have a good shot at winning Euro 2004. I chose Ricardo Rocha over R.Carvalho because once Ricardo Rocha plays central defender full time, everyone will see he is one of the better central defenders in Portugal. But any combination of Ricardo Rocha, F.Meira, J.Andrade, and R.Carvalho would make a great defensive combo for Portugal. R.Carvalho is one of the few porto players I like. When healthy, Petit is just as good as Costinha. At this moment, C.Ronaldo is not better than Simao! Rui Costa still has enough in him to help lead Portugal to a championship. Rui Costa is 100 times better than the next guy. I probably should of put Hugo Vianna on this team, but I ran out of spots. Everyone has their opinions, but I guess the only one that matters is Scolari's
