I figured we have some fun with this:

    Using Dominic Kinnear 4-4-2

    GK: Tony Caig
Forwards: Koke, Luis Landin (Honorable Mention: Ade Akinbiyi)
Midfielders: Kelly Gray, Francisco Navas Cobo, Anthony Obodai, John Michael Hayden
Defense: Kevin Goldthwaite, Julius James, Erik Ustruck, Stephen Wondolowski

Feel free to use this for help: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All-time_Houston_Dynamo_roster

I'm going to expand on this a bit:

Coach - Mike Toshack (coached Caig in USL and likely recommended him)

Goalie - Tony Caig (unanimous selection). Honorable mention: Onstad gets sent off, replaced in goal by a field player or orange traffic cone

Defense: Julius James, Ryan Cochrane (mainly because we paid for him twice), Hunter Freeman (awful waste of salary), Patrick Ianni (didn't do squat when with us)

Midfield: Felix Garcia, Anthony Obodai, Sammy Appiah (just to tweak Juve), Julian Nash. Honorable mention: Ronald Cerritos (I think he played midfield for us, sort of quit/abandoned team in year 1, I recall him missing a PK).

Forward: Ade Akinbiyi (best quality: "can help kill the game"), Abe Thompson (just have to include because of the Kamara trade). Honorable mention: Jason Garey, Franco Carraccio

    *Worst

...and while I'm at it, I do think we had players that contributed less, but they all defended the colors so I can't hate them too much.

I am with him-but really, Kelly Gray, damn didn't he take a penalty for us in our first Cup final? I know he played pretty well at the end of the match. I don't think he was that terrible.

Koke wasn't here long enough to qualify. Cisco-?! Hell he never saw the pitch. Don't mess with my man John Michael-I regret not buying his jersey when he got loaned to Cleveland, but he would have to make the list
Bobcat-I could see him making the list, he did go on to have a pretty decent MLS career once he got out of here. Did Wondo 2 ever actually see the pitch in a first team match?
    I agree with the rest.

This is a tailor-made thread for the haters.

Btw, Julius James was not a bad as some of you think. Raw, but plenty of recovery speed to correct his mistakes. Something that has missing in the Dynamo back-line for a while.

Caig would probably be the unanimous "Worst Ever" choice. I'd put Carracio and Landin up there as #'s 2 & 3 in no particular order, simply because they both got a LOT of minutes and accomplished pretty much nothing. I've always wondered if Wondo would still be here if Carracio hadn't taken his minutes! Not saying that Wondo didn't get any chance, but not as much of a chance as Carracio.

Hunter Freeman was another in my personal top 5 worst. He got far too much of an opportunity to play here despite his continuing suckage!

Interesting topic. There were some guys who worked hard, but in the end didn't have the talent to make it in the league. There were others who came here from more established leagues and flamed out. I reserve most of my disappointment for the latter. Maybe mine should be called the Dynamo Most Disappointing 11, but here's my list.

GK - Tony Caig. Not much competition at this spot. And he wasn't brought here to be a starter. But it's hard to forget the chest in to his own goal.
CB - Julius James. Not completely his fault. But in the end, he was the guy they traded for arguably the league's all time MVP for.
RB - Hunter Freeman. Never really effective at the position. Was supposed to be a solid starter after coming back from Europe.
CDM - Lovell Palmer. Wasn't suited for this position. The constant back passes are why I don't have as much hair as I did a couple of years ago.
CM - Anthony Obodai. He had an impressive resume with lots of appearances in Holland. But he had trouble getting on the field here and was released after a half of a season.
CAM - Koke. I put him here because I seem to remember him playing behind the forwards while he was here. He complained that Navas Cobo should be starting, didn't do much on the field, and quit the team a month later.
RM - Colin Clark. Not entirely his fault. He is strictly left footed. But he has played this position predominantly since joining the Dynamo. It doesn't help that he was traded for Brian Mullan who went on to win MLS cup with Colorado. I'm not sure what was worse, his three game suspension or having to watch him play at RM.
FW - Luis Angel Landin. The Scorpion often looked unmotivated and out of shape after signing on as the Dynamo's first ever DP.
FW - Cam Weaver. Other than a slight resemblance to Dave Matthews, he hasn't done much to establish himself in the league. And he will ultimately be remembered as the guy that was traded for Chris Wondolowski.
FW - Ade Akinbiyi. Sure, he was 34 when he signed. But he was expected to produce something. He didn't score a goal in his short time in Houston.
FW - Franco Carrocio. An intriguing player with an U-20 international pedigree signed from Parts Unknown, Argentina. He could never find regular playing time, he was waived before the season ended in 2008.

See, Corey Ashe didn't even make the list. I haven't been drinking the hatorade(see how hip I am), but I thought it would be a fun exercise. Not exactly a normal formation, but I might try it on my next game of Football Manager.

But the question is how did he play during his time with us. It wasn't very good, even if it wasn't all his fault. Dom cut his losses on that one very quick.

GTFO. Parts Unknown, Argentina? He was part of the youth system of the team that had won the Copa Sudamericana that same year (he even played one game that tournament so he even received a winners medal), Arsenal de Sarandi, the same team that just won their first ever league title this year. They aren't Boca, River, or Independiente well-known, but I would NEVER say unknown. That was a risk I'm happy the Dynamo ********ing took. It takes balls to find a player with such talent and sign him, he was talented by the way, and it wasn't their fault his talent never transferred to the field. Y'all are the same people that want this type of risk signing NOW, but aren't appreciative of when we actually tried it out.

Guess that joke didn't land. Anyway, like most of my posts, that one was pretty tongue in cheek. I don't fault them for signing Carrocio, Akinbiyi, or anyone else. Like I said, it should probably be called the most disappointing 11. He didn't seem to be on many people's radar at the time. Parts Unknown is just a throwback to the old Houston Wrestling days.

Forgive me here, but umm, if his talent or ability doesn't transfer to the field, he's really not that talented, is he? If they signed him for entertaiment purposes at practice to do ball tricks and juggling and expected more out of him, then he's off the hook.

I believe Kamala the Ugandian Giant hailed from Parts Unknown but IIRC he was from New Jersey.

I would most definitely have JuveChelsea and Rikker on the list. Atpag would be on the list, and so would Dre, Rey, and most definitely Nobius. That guy couldn't score in a Frisco house of ill-repute!

I remember the "promos" they did for Kamala the Ugandan Giant before he actually debuted. They had this rainforest soundtrack and attempted to show him walking through the jungle and parting vines and palms and the like. But if you looked closely, you could sometimes see the potted plants. :D

This is all I could find -- just imagine more potted plants in the background and the rainforest soundtrack:

I liked wrestling more in the 1980s when they still tried to pretend it was real even though it was obviously fake.

If they knew he was from Uganda, why did they say he was from Parts Unknown?

The only thing less logical than pro wrestling in the 80s is the MLS Disciplinary Committee

Bryan Danielson, Austin Aries, CM Punk, and AJ Styles are all reasons why you should start paying attention to wrestling right about now. NWA-Houston holds some decent events at the VFW Hall in Cypress. They're a throwback to them old wrestlers, but with more fitness and less soap opera.

Why am I even typing this? I need sleep.

Kelly Gray rifled home PK #3 at the '06 Cup Final. How he makes any list is beyond me.
Just when I tell myself don't bother with this thread I don't listen to that inner voice and now I have lost 4 minutes of my life I won't ever get back.
