Place these clubs in order of wealthiest being at the top to poorest:

    Juventus
    Inter Milan
    AC Milan
    Roma
    Lazio
    Parma

What criteria are we using? Value of shares, yearly turnover, transfer market funds?

Anyway overall it would probably go something like

    Milan
    Juve
    Inter
    Roma
    Lazio
    Parma

    maybe Juve ahead of Milan.

What is this a pop quiz? I've seen listings of the indebtedness (none of them are actually "rich") of each club recently but can't bring it up off the top of my head. I think Juve was the only club (of these) operating in the black in recent years. Perhaps Milan's success last year has helped them. If I had to guess at an order

    Juve
    Milan
    Inter
    Lazio
    Roma
Parma (because of the recent Parmalat disaster - they had seemingly been a well-managed club until it came to light that the Parmalat money that was backing them wasn't really there)

But it's just a guess. If somebody has real figures, please post.

Richer? I think the right thing to ask is what italian team is more broken. A tough question

No just trying to get a better feel for the league.

I was just curious. I know many clubs are having financial problems right now, but thought I should know who is wealthy out of the big clubs and who has a little less.

Just curious, that's all. It's not like you can visit each club's official website and their financial records are posted...lol.

I think you'd have to go:
    Juve
    Milan
    Inter

and then draw a line above everyone else as the rest are in financial turmoil.

If your looking for clubs that actually make money, maybe add Udinese as they reportedly turn a profit each year also (mostly by selling players)...

I saw Reggina also on a list of clubs slightly in the black. Chievo, too, I believe. You wouldn't call any of these clubs "rich" by any stretch of the imagination. They are just not profligate. Bologna falls into this category as well.

If we're just talking about revenue (and not debts) then according to World Soccer, it goes:

    Juve - 195
    Milan - 161.7
    Roma - 143.8
    Inter - 125.7
    Lazio - 112
    Parma - ?

(figures in millions of euros; financial year 2001-02)

I'd imagine that Milan made the most money last year in Italy. 2001/02 wasn't a banner year for Milan and they still brought in a lot of money. However, that is the year Milan broke the bank in signing Rui Costa, Inzaghi, Pirlo, Laursen, etc. So they were heavily in the red that year. I remember last year Galliani saying(after signing Nesta) that Milan could get into the black if they reached the CL semifinals. Well, they did that, but to my knowledge I haven't heard that they operated at a profit last year.

Profit rarely exists in Italian football simply because of outrageaous transfer fees and salaries. Its at a point where investors only contribute simply because of personal interests in the game and nothing else. Just look at the Russian investors who were going to buy Roma; they were simply scared off because of all the turmoil thats going around involving financial fraud, and I'd imagine the authorities having no problem shutting down big teams, especially Roma. Just get ready for the headlines come next year:

" ITALIAN GOVERNMENT CEASES STADIO OLIMPICO"!

I thought the Italian Olympic commitee already owned the Olimpico. And the Olympic commitee is a government organization so it has already happend.

right, and they just actually signed a deal to give operating control to a group of Lazio's Longo, Sensi from Roma and the mayor (with that is supposed to come the building of restaurants and other attractions around the Olimpico)...

dont look for the government to Cease these clubs, but rather create more ways to keep the clubs afloat...

The new Deloitte figures are out for the richest club in the world.

Juventus are second in the world behind Manchester United, Milan third.

Look on the Spurs section for the thread with a full list.
