I've watched a decent amount of complete matches and saw a LOT of comps from YouTube. I also already saw all stats available for him and I followed many discussions about him in comparison to other players like Romário for example. So I have a very educated opinion about his level as a player
Since you are directly accusing me; - Some latin Americans as Riquelme, Aguero and Rivaldo are enormously overrated, others probably underrated, including Ronaldo Nazario (compared to Zidane) - We are indeed maligned. Whether it is 1974 or 1987 or 2024, it is always the same mechanism. By your World Soccers et al. - Throwing an endless stream of German referees at our feet (and three times in a row) is indeed a conspiracy. No one will put an Argentine on an England game. Let alone three times in succession. Conspiracy indeed. - Instead of Eurocentrism I'd call it 'reality centrism'. The reality that Latins don't have a clue for how to run a country (economy?) and that 'we' transfer each year billions and billions to the cesspools. - Reality is also though that Brazil is enormous, and everything else being equal, they have about a six times higher chance to find a good left-back or goalkeeper as Germany (the largest country in Europe). I have often said this, too.
high volume of passes like this? 2022 2003 Show it Show it even once keep on living in denial Ronaldo the Portuguese has more goals with his left foot(142) then zidane had non penalty goals in his career(140) Goals are not the be all and end all of discussions But when it is like this you just turn the page and say NEXT your late 1990s and early 2000s idols are overrated 0 GOAT level candidates were born after 1960 up until the mid to late 1980s 0 there was exactly twenty years between the birthdays of your GOATs Pelé (1940)and Diego Maradona(1960) And there will most likely be another 20-25 years like that(from now) Blame God and not me You can’t fault your idol Zidane for taking full advantage of the events that unfolded in the late 1990s though Zidane was not projected to be a top 2 player of his generation That was meant to be Ronaldo the Brazilian and Alessandro Del Piero the Italian you should probably watch more of him and less of the Frenchman That those 2 experienced serious injuries exactly one year apart Is one of the greatest episodes of misfortune and luck in modern football history depending on which side of the fence you are sitting on. misfortune for Ronaldo nazario himself, the kids born after 1985 who grew up idolising him and perhaps a large segment of neutral fans aswell who loved his surging athletic runs(reminiscent of George weah) and his solo type goals(the closest to Roberto baggio during the 1990s in this respect) luck for the defenders who never again had to face his explosiveness off the mark mixed in with futsal skills ,luck for the goalkeepers who had earned a well deserved break from being left on their asses and luck for zidane who’s career was completely overshadowed by the Brazilian except for the last game of a summer tournament played in 1998 ADP was the best champions league performer of the entire 1990s decade As simple as that That is like Messi and Cristiano suffering from serious knee injuries in 2009 and anyone one of Xavi or iniesta taking over immediately after that(and Neymar is not in Europe for at least another 4 years anyways) Does Neymar even go to Barcelona in 2013 in a situation like that with Messi as a crippled player? Does Barcelona even transform into the absolute dominant force that they were with Messi only half the player we eventually saw him become? Zidanes inflated legacy emerged from that same kind of chaos. Zidane himself a great talent completely capitalised on the fact that the two greater talents of his generation were crippled one year apart(at the dawn of a new millennium aswell)
Firstly ... Zidane is not striker he played right Full back on this match ... and also played the libero sometimes Please don't make me look for it on Ina.fr hahahaha ... again as Michel Platini hahahaha Archive National Of Images .... from France ! ...... later Bordeaux vs Ac Milan .... as central midfielder ..." regista "
second thing : Ronaldinho Gaucho always played as CenterForward for Gremio FAB since 1998 like on this match against Argentina ... in 1999 Luxemburgo Rivaldo as Enganche classical number 10 on this match Center Forwards : Ronaldo Nazario as Center Forward Ronaldinho Gaucho as Center Forward already in World Cup 2002 they were changing much more the positions ... i mean exchanging the positions ... Zidane ... is midfielder Ronaldinho is Second Striker
But you have very very reason here in this moment Really after the third consecutive defeat in the European finals of champion clubs against Bayern Munich 1996. against Borussia Dortmund in 1997 and Real Madrid in 1998 there was actually a scenario very distrustful of Zinedine Zidane after defeat to Real Madrid ;; his nickname was .cursed black cat .... He was really seen behind Ronaldo Nazario...Alessandro Del Piero but not just the two.. at the time He was seen behind also by Dennis Bergkamp... Davor Suker... Edgar Davids.. Pavel Nedved Fernando Redondo Ruud Gullit, same veteran at Chelsea Eric Cantona George Weah Matthias Sammer Batistuta Rui Costa Vialli Zola etc.. No one doubted Zizou's technical qualities But... many had doubts at the time if he would become really and highly a very decisive player... with a strong personality and leadership at the same time Nobody really believed that he would be the top scorer in the Italian Championship... like Platini... equally... a lot of people thought he was worse than Nedved... Sammer... Andy Moller from Dortmund Borussia.. after all Zidane behaviour in big matches ... was average .... 0, 59 % vs Ronaldinho Gaucho behaviour in big matches ..... 0, 48 % vs Alessandro Del Piero behaviour in big matches ..............0, 76 % ...
I hope you don't take what I said as an offense. I am merely describing the "tendencies" of clusters of posters, not refuting the validity of the individual statements.
There's a load of nonsense in this post aimed at provoking me when it is needless. You know that I am one of the only ones who argues and defends Cristiano's abilities. So I don't need you to come correct me on his quality - I know it well. The matches you linked from SofaScore - I am not sure what you are trying to say? As for the rest of your post - it is absolute drivel. Zidane is the only player in history to have 3 (out of 3) best in league awards until Cristiano came along and matched him. Zidane was the only or maybe one of a handful of players to have completed football - Bdor, Fifa POTY, Euro, Euro POTT, WC, WC POTT, CL, CL POTY, etc. etc. Take your anger out on someone else, not me
I've watched mostly the classics. Barça x Real Madrid (home and away), Inter x Juve (home and away), Brazil x France, Brazil x Argentina, etc...
i'm starting to think that Carlito 86 .. works on SofaScore .... really he edits the ratings there always with frequency ...!!! hahahahahha ! just kidding abit ! dear mate !
But you are NOT looking at the relevant data at all mate (the games from 97/98 for example Whimsy did look at and his foul data should be less contentious than his dribble data unless he was lying so I think you'd be better off incorporating that than producing a misleading list like above; the other guys 96/97 foul data should perhaps be correct too but I know it's hard to trust a random source). I didn't want to have to type like this either mate. Anyway the point is using such a limited sample size is flawed isn't it? Let's not fall out anyway (I'm getting annoyed with myself even getting involved in this in part to be honest), but let's not come to misleading conclusions as if they are facts too.
When did I said Messi is the greatest and there is no discussion? Show just one comment of me saying Messi is the best at everything including goalscoring( he is not even top 10 goalscorer in my view) Greatest WC? Greatest UCL? Or even Greatest Copa? Messi and Pele are equally top 1 for me(Pele the better scorer and Messi the better playmaker) but I've never said Messi is untouchable
UEFA Club Footballer of the Year - Wikipedia That's an award mainly/fully based on play in continental competition mate I believe: REDONDO SCOOPS EUROPEAN AWARD | Football News | Sky Sports If you listed to commentary from early World Cup 1998 games you should be able to hear references to fitness/injury issues Ronaldo was carrying at that time too (albeit I have to say I don't remember at exactly what points right now...but it's something I noted not that long ago rather than recalling it just from the time itself - I'm talking about English commentary of course too albeit maybe there could even be more discussion about it in Portuguese language commentary, I don't know though....).
Correction noted (I didn't spot it at first even though I guess I did see his fouls number on Sofascore before myself) - kudos for doing that anyway, to be fair to you (and I assume it was an honest mistake at first of course).
You know I really like Marco van Basten and Ronaldo Nazario I honestly have nothing against them But have one point that i agree with Carlito 86 for sure ...! there is a super dimensionally " media " extremelly exaggerated on players As Ronaldo Nazario 97 til 99 skills ... Ronaldinho Gaucho Skills 1998 til 2016 .....Kaká sprint speed Skills Zltatan Ibrahimovic ... David Beckham .... M Ozil ... Ricardo Quaresma Skills .... Clarence Seedorf skills ... Dennis Bergkamp Elegant skills ...Djalminha ...Denilson Show ... at You Tube ... ( generation You tube ,,living on Highlights only at You Tube ... never hasn't watched a whole game ) pure and exaggerated nostalgia always .... .........Football Manager metrics ... Matches . C. ronaldo 1233 Ronaldo Nazario 616 Goals ... .... 895 ..414 average Of Goals .... 0, 72 % ..............0, 67 % Assists ... .... 317 .. .......... 141 Average Of Assists ........ 0, 25 % ............. 0, 22 % Pre-Assists ... Average Of Pre-Assists Player Of the Match .. Hat-Tricks Goals ... Hat-Tricks Assists ... Passing Accuracy % . .Shots on Target ratio % ... Yellow Cards and Red Cards ( disciplinary things (ratings) ) ... Tackles Won per 90 minutes .... Interceptions .... Defensive Covers .... Duels Won .... Headers Won .. Clearences.. Big chances created .... Key passes .... Dribbles made per 90 minutes .... Behaviour in big matches ( composure ) for example until now on researching here : C. I think you feel about late 90s, early 00s players a bit like I feel about mid/late 00s players onwards (perhaps over-hyped, ignoring past stars, inflated by stats and/or fame/popularity/media etc) mate lol (as a generalisation)! Re: Sofascore and criticism of their data I don't really know if this tweet is correct, but it suggests a flaw/defect with BCC data in theory (I noticed it when I was trying to find back the overall 97/98 Ronaldo Nazario data on Whimsy's Twitter history which I didn't do yet either on Twitter or Big Soccer)! Gintars on X: "@Footyknowit I recently realized that SofaScore counts this throw in as a Big Chance Created by Ronaldo, when Nani literally made that a big chance by himself with a dribble https://t.co/5QmXCAFQbg" / X
2007/08 Premier League foul data for CR7: 2.59 per game Opta Stats for the EPL season 2007-08 | About all the football that I get to watch and about some I dont (wordpress.com)
yes Is interesting to see honestly ... i don't care on SofaScore i prefer to do this the ratings ...all by myself .... pay Attention ..too much ... in the whole matches ...by myself ... i don't like it people talking about it ... As SofaScore is one bigger Bible .... i don't think so !
So just looking at their fouls won data (obviously Whimsy recorded more dribbles than the other guy for 97/98 but like I say that's a more contentious stat to estimate and try to align with Opta): https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/c...-of-pure-ability.2126439/page-4#post-41513457 3.31 per 90 minutes in Serie A Ronaldo on X: "Ronaldo Nazário Stats for FC Barcelona 49 games (4240 minutes) ⚽️ 47 goals (0.99) 11 assists (0.23) 217 shots / 124 on target (2.63) ♂️ 220 successful dribbles (4.67) 42 key passes (0.89) 9 BCC (0.19) ❌ 15 BCM (0.32) 126 fouls won (2.68) 49 games sampled https://t.co/EZ9sjZw4d0" / X 2.68 per 90 minutes in all competitions Around 3 per game suggested then on average (if those sources could be trusted to have counted honestly and correctly all the fouls awarded).
