Of the top of my head I would say Ronaldo, despite him never winning the Champions League. Especially if you're talking about diverse awards. And to think he spended his prime on the sidelines
This player would definitely not qualify based on individual awards, but how about Ryan Giggs' Man United record: Premier League (11): 1992–93, 1993–94, 1995–96, 1996–97, 1998–99, 1999–2000, 2000–01, 2002–03, 2006–07, 2007–08, 2008–09 FA Cup (4): 1993–94, 1995–96, 1998–99, 2003–04 Football League Cup (3): 1991–92, 2005–06, 2008–09 FA Community Shield (7): 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, 2003, 2007, 2008 UEFA Champions League (2): 1998–99, 2007–08 UEFA Super Cup (1): 1991 Intercontinental Cup (1): 1999 FIFA Club World Cup (1): 2008 11 League titles from the best league in the world, 2 Champions League titles, 4 FA Cups, and the recent Club World Cup...
Guys...is Paolo Maldini....without any doubts: Five champions league ( 5 !!! I don't know if you understand...) I'd say it's Zinedine Zidane. He won everything: World Cup, Euro Cup, Champions League, Liga and Serie A,...
Not only did he just win it. The Euro, World Cup and Champions League final, he was the hero in all three.
Ronaldo actually has a reputation of not winning the domestic league title enough. He only won it once in 2003 with Real Madrid. He almost played no part in the 2006-07 season so he should not take credit for it. The Campeonato Paulista is not the main domestic league in Brazil. This is a player who played his career with a league contender(PSV, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Barcelona and Real Madrid). He did not spend his entire career with Southampton. Beckenbauer has done much more..... a World Cup, an European Championship, 3 European Cups, a Cup Winners' Cup and Bundesliga titles.
That's also what I heard. In terms of pure trophies, Baia has a pretty impressive record: Club FC Porto Portuguese League (10) Portuguese Cup (5) Portuguese SuperCup (8) Uefa Cup Uefa Champions League Intercontinental Cup FC Barcelona Spanish League Spanish Cup (2) Spanish Supercup Uefa Cup Winner's Cup Uefa Super Cup That's 32 trophies all together.
We need guidelines. In terms of what? Most types of trophies? Sheer number? Also a SuperCup must be of lesser importance than a cup or a league. I don't think we should include personal trophies, cause it gets REALLY subjective there; besides there are only a handful of players who won a lot of those We should make a table, which could be sorted by different columns: League, Cup, Supercup, E1, E2, E3, ESC, ICC, Total. primulastar, Gento has 6 European Cups won. Maldini's second, tied with 6-10 other players (5 trophies). Do you guys know the highest-scoring defender? Top level i mean -
Thierry Henry, since he won Champions League this year, is already in that "I won everything" group, like Zidane, Karembeu or Roberto Carlos.
It's either Passarella or Koeman, pretty sure Koeman. He scored around 200 goals throughout his career, more than some strikers. Guess it helps when you have a rocket free kick and shot. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glw1la9zaHw"]YouTube - Ronald Koeman Barça compilation[/ame]
If you're just looking at the three greatest titles available to all European footballers, the following guys have managed to play in (and win) a final in the World Cup, European Championship, and Club European Championship: For France: Barthez, Desailly, Lizarazu, Deschamps, and Zidane. For Germany: Maier, Beckenbauer, Hoeness, Muller, Schwarzenbeck, Breitner. Note that I didn't include guys like Henry, who were on rosters (often even playing key roles) because they did not appear in the final match for one of the three competitions. Of the 11 players listed above, three have won the Golden Ball (Zidane, Muller, and Beckenbauer). Paul Breitner came close in 1981, losing out to Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
Thsi is perhaps a question for the bigsoccerpedia, Gregoriak... Has there been a player who has won the three: Libertadores UEFA Champions League World Cup And possibly, Ballon d'or
I'm no Gregoriak, not even close but off the top of my head Cafu for sure. He had back to back Libertadores victories with Sao Paolo, the two World Cups and the Champions League with Milan. Aren't you a Brazil fan?
Did Rivaldo win the Libertadores while at Palmeiras? If so then he has the lot, Ballon d'Or included. Non-Europeans were only made eligible for votes though in around 1995 so if Rivaldo doesn't have the complete set you'll be hard pressed to find anyone else that does.
No Rivaldo didn't win a Libertadores but he did win damn near everything else including the much sought after Uzbeki Cup and League
Winning everything you would have to win all the cups in your league and the Champions league, World Cup and Euro. Henry as done this in both Spain and England, but has not won the the 2 prestigous individual awards.
Henry never won the League Cup with Arsenal. There's a player, currently playing, who has played for the same club - professionally - since 1985. He plays for a league juggernaut. This is your most decorated player. Find him.
He had one full season at PSV....his first in europe One season at Barca....won like 3 of 4 titles came second in la liga lost by like 2 points. One full season at Inter....which ended in them coming a controversial second 3 full season at Real madrid....about 6 coaches in like 2 years, enough said. Half season at AC milan....helped them win a CL spot, which was their main objective at the time. So I would say he has been a bit unlucky in that department...was a runner-up 3 times out of those 6..... Despite all that nobody in his generation has been more decorated than him....especially with individual awards....and he did it in less time [Has had only 7 seasons in which he has played 40 or more games for club and country...Zidane = 13, CR7/9 = 6] holland, spain, italy = either a top scorer or a mvp at one time or another in all of them....atleast once Fifa = team and individual awards Uefa = team and individual awards [the only thing he doesn't have from uefa is a CL] CONMEBOL = team and individual awards He is also an Olympic medalist
