It's Ryan Giggs when he's played out wide on the left.

What about Denilson, when he is on form nothing can stop him. I would opt for Ronaldo though, in about 5 years...

Motterman, how do you feel about Giggs playing as a supporting striker behind RvN? I really like it. He is now thirty and losing speed needed to play on the wing. But he still has great skill and imagination needed to play in the center.

I still think he's more effective on the wing. He's maybe lost half a step at the most, but he can still shine as the world's best on any given night. I prefer Scholes behind RVN personally.

Pires has never recovered from his injury. He's not the same player from a few years back, I'm stunned he has so many votes, personally.

Giggs is the best in my opinion. The way he responded to the critics in the second half of last season was superb. He is still the best dribbler in the world and his final ball is excellent as well.

Disagree, Giggs's final ball can be erratic. Often poor on one on ones if he gets that far, and although he can put in a good ball, you can never be sure with Giggs, his final ball can be that bad at times. Also, whats all this abouit Pires not being the player he was. Just because he has had a slow start to the season menas nothing, he is genuine quality, one of the very best in the world, he is player who has great final ball, and as per ususal, he will come good as the season progresses.

I thought most Arsenal supporters agreed that Pires still hasn't returned to his pre-injury form. He used to be lethal, and still is occasionally, but he's really not where he once was, IMO.

He will return with a vengeance. Being left out of the Arsenal Man u game would of hurt him and he will not want that to happen again. He is still at the pinacle of his career, and you have to remember that every player suffers dips in form, this is normal. He still has a few years at the very top, and he will be as good as ever when he returns. I wouldnt expect wenger to leave him out of many more important clashes like yesterday. He is the same player he was last season, and he will prove it next weekend. He is better than Giggs. Giggs is not the winderkid he used to be, mainly because of his final ball, his final shot, and Pires has never suffered from that problem.

Why the hell is C. Ronaldo doing on this list? What has he ever done? That was a stupid move.

    I agree.
Its a bit sad that a player I once rated as the top LW in the game now has to dive to score goals for his team. (see: Portsmouth). Pires is still good, but he's past thirty, and since the injury he's been far short of his best.
At the moment, I have to give the mantle to Giggs. Figo has looked out of sorts the last couple of years, Ronaldo hasn't done anything yet, and Beckham.....is just not as good as Figo or Giggs. When Giggs is at his best, he is the best in the game.
Why no mention of Kily, btw? He's been phenomenal for the Che the last 4 years or so.

In a couple of years I think Joaquin and Duff will have to be a part of this argument, perhaps along with Van Der Meyde and Ronaldo.

P.S. Denilson? If he could do anything but stepovers, sure, he could be considered. But he can't, of course.

I disagree. Giggs the best? bolloks. Isnt even playing on the wing for man u this year. Also, you said pires was over thirty and that means he is past it does it? A player reaches his peak at 30. Beckham not as good as Figo? How come Beckham has taken Figo's place on the right? And not as good as giggs you say. Both completely different players. No one, and certainly not ryan giggs, can place a ball as well as Beckham can. Beckham poses a far greater threat by his lethal passing than giggs, who is good at running at players, but lacks the final ball to make it matter. And the comment about dennilson is ridiculous, he is a marvelous player.

Sorry, but Ronaldo is nasty. And he plays for Manchester United. Being 18, you should be surprised he even plays almost every game for such a great club.

And, I should have put Denilson up there, but you can only have 8 options for voting.

    OKAY?????????????

You people get so pissed off, why? Go make your own poll if you want.

Really? Huh, that's funny. Robert Pires, of France (just so we're sure) was born on January 29, 1973 in Reims. Now, using something called "math", I subtracted September 22 2003 from January 29, 1973. I got - 30 years, and about 7.75 months. Now, on Jupiter, that may well be fewer than 30 years. On this fabulous planet (that would be Earth - you know, third from the sun), its actually more than 30 years.
So I guess someone IS having trouble getting true facts, but its not me..........
(Just to make it all spic and span, here's the link: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/player?id=8062&cc=5901)

Ah yes, intelligent conversation. This coming from a person who posted on another board that Arsenal haven't won once in their last 10 games in Europe. (Here's the amazing thing - I've got that link too!: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=72920&perpage=20&pagenumber=4)
Now I don't really like Arsenal, but I don't make up stuff about them and then claim I'm not defending such statistics because they're "boring".
Leave these boards. Please. Or else you'll run into Matt Clark. And......oooh, that's gonna be ugly.
