None of these. Reina is the best followed by Cech

Reina makes far too many blunders to be considered in the top tier.

Cech and Buffon are the best in the world. I agree a video of the best saves isn't the best way to rank keepers but you can see in it why Cech is pure class.

The ability to dismiss mistakes is IMO the best way to evaluate keepers at the top level. Reina isn't one of the best because of that. Same apply for Boruc who can be exceptionnal one day and very poor the next one, but if he cuts down his blunders tendancy he'll be there among the best.

Among the youth, Ochoa and Gordon have everything to be successfull keepers. I've also heard about Ustari but never seen him play, would like to hear from those who did.

i dont no wat that vid had to do wit valdes....

look enough with people throwing their teams keeper. enough with people saying this guys i the best because he had 1 good game. to be the best u must be consistent. not only that but people are throwing in keepers that are past there prime. and if your read the thread its say right now not 10 years ago. even though this thread is 100 years old lets talk about now.

look the top two are 1st buffon 2nd cech.

do not throw keepers like valdes and reina who play a few good games or save a few penalties and think they should be considered.

Nowadays, Buffon is simply the best and for the future we will see the progress of Olympique Marseille´s goalkeeper Steve Mandanda.

Cech for me and hate chelsea so much but i gotta confess that cech is awesome.

i would just go for him above buffon as my personal choice as i would feel more confident as a defender with cech behind me even if buffon is the better shot stopper.

might sound stupid but buffon technique for catches from crosses just doesn't look right and that would worry me as a defender. I know he is good at taking crosses but it just looks like he isn't confident even when he is. i think defenders have to have confidence in the keeper. So i just put cech ahead of Buffon.

Friedel is the best american keeper although im a Leicester fan and keller will always be looked upon fondly by Leicester fans. Friedel is just more consistent in my opinion.

Don't know too much about Buffon (don't watch Serie A or Juventus) so I can't say much besides what I've seen on compilations . When Casillas is having an on day, I think he pretty much takes they cake. Lately though he has been a little off (less consistent).

cant argue with casillas and buffon that's for sure.

as for cech, reina and then the rest well... cech has been an outstanding keeper but he's hardly been impervious in between the nets this season so far. he's made a few errors and i think his halo has slipped a bit this season.

reina is a good keeper but he ain't above the rest. for instance, i wouldn't pick reina over artur boruc at celtic. i don't think he's a class above boruc or other keepers of a similar standard.

Cech has been brilliant since his return from injury. He's still in the top tier with Gigi and San Iker, methinks.

so there wasn't an error from him in the arsenal match or the aston villa game?

errors that one wouldn't normally associate with petr cech.

frasermc is correct in his assessment of Cech's current form and Reina's standing in the game. In saying that I would still have Cech in the top three.

We shall see how he performs when he comes up against the best strikers in the world on a regular basis. Until then it is stupid to claim that he is in the top three.

so would i. although his standards (albeit high standards) have certainly slipped a bit this season.

i had more of an issue with reina being placed in the same company as cech.
