Time for some mental masturbation since we are in a lull right now. Well the current rumor flying around these boards is that the league is gonna set the roster limits at 16 regular players plus several reserves (from what I've read this ranges from 2 - 4). Apparently the deadline for the teams to submit their final rosters is March 24th.

According to the newly designed Freedom site..these are players currently listed:

    Bai Jie
    Emmy Barr
    Meredith Beard
    Darci Borski
    Ann Cook
    Erin Fahey
    Ali Fennel
    Monica Gerardo
    Missy Gregg
    Jennifer Grubb
    Mia Hamm
    Steffi Jones
    Jacqui Little
    Skylar Little
    Tracey Milburn
    Carrie Moore
    Siri Mullinix
    Sarah Kate Noftsinger
    Pu Wei
    Laura Schott
    Lindsay Stoecker
    Abby Wambach
    Casey Zimny

    Players coming soon (hopefully):
Kelly G. (I ain't even attempting to spell her last name) from Australia.
    Sandra Minnert from Germany.

Pu Wei is supposedly gone for the season on loan to China. Bai Jie will be leaving right before August I believe.

    According to Soccer America...

So who is on your 2003 Freedom roster? I will post my lineup sometime Thursday night.

    Hamm
    Wambach
    Bai
    Little or Beard

    Lindsay
    Jones
    Kelly G
    McDowell or Cookie
    Stoeker

    Moore
    Grubb
    Barr
    Little
    Minnert

    Mullinix
    Fahey

    Reserves:
    Beard or Little
    Cookie or McDowell

and then a draft pick if they add a reserve spot

I see a battle between Cookie and McDowell for a roster spot, and Beard and Little for a roster spot, with the losers staying on as reserves.

Looks like they don't have Lindsey up yet.

That 16 player roster deal is sure gonna screw things up! Too bad!

There is a good interview with Missy Gregg on

    www.SoccerFanaticsRadio.com

about her health and getting drafted by the Freedom. It sounds like she doesn't expect to play this season. And if she does, it will be later in the season and probably in the W-League.

At least it means Milburn is likely gone...

Somehow I knew even before opening this thread that Milburn would be the topic of your post. ;)

I believe Laura Schott will make the roster. Primarily because she can play multiple positions. Not only a fine striker, but has blistering speed as a wing. Also can play mid and is a great distibuter. If we're going to have someone as a sub W/ fewer players on the roster it should be someone that is able and willing to play when and where they are needed. As stated in other forums there was Quite a bit of surprise she was not taken higher in the draft. I don't think coming from Berkeley is not an asset. They are not really known for soccer. But other than her injuriy riddled senior year, she is a gem and she has international exp. at the Algarve, Italy, Mexico, Germany, and the Nordic. I researhed this while watching her at Cal. Anyway some of the new draftees Bios are up at the Freedom site. EC

I think she may have a good shot to be a reserve, out of all the draft picks, but I would be suprised if she beat out any of the forwards on the current roster.

That's pretty much the list I came up with, except that I assumed that they were going to retain the three goalkeepers rule, which forced me to drop Beard and make Cook the non-GK reserve. In any case, if they do go with the roster of 16, there are going to be some tough battles for the final spots on the roster.

Stats help to masterbate mentally, camp will tell the truth, let's MM a little more. In 2000 LO was #3 in the country w/ 23 tied w/ none other than ABBY that same year the PAC-10 had three players vying for forward position for DC this year!
    ## Name GP G A Pts Sh Shot% GW PK-ATT

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

    18 Schott, Laura 20 23 1 47 .311
    9 2-2

    2 Rigamat, Stephanie 24 13 11 37 55 .236 8 0-0

    13 Milburn, Tracey 24 13 6 32 83 .157
    1 0-0

I see only two Forwards on the roster today that are as close to solid picks for this years roster, Mia & Abby leaving two up for grabs!

Over 25% of all Schott's Shots hit the BACK of the net!!! She's fun to watch!

    GO LO!

I don't disagree with you that she is probably a better player then Milburn and Rigamat, but I don't see her beating out Little or Beard with 16 on a roster

Everybody's a better player than Milburn or Rigamat. How on earth did they each score 13 goals in one year at UCLA? The PAC-10 must have some pretty awful defenses...

OK, it's out of my system now :D

Having a weak pre-season and a damn good team didn't hurt.

I agree there is a vast diff. between Schott and the two above mentioned players. Like Gabrarra said,"We know Laura can play at this level". Once again she will prove herself worthy of consideration. It will be up to Gabrarra to reveal what he has up his sleeve. Maybe a solid trade if someones forward injuries continue, or perhaps call-ups will open a position? Whatever the case he's got a class act. She could turnout to be that gem they we're looking for.
