For me, when Wayne Rooney becomes a more experienced footballer he will become a legend, people like Ryan Babel, C.Ronaldo and others can become legends and rule the European stage and other competitions.

You fail to mention when Wayne Rooney becomes more mature.

the only upcoming legend I can see right now is Messi (and Ronaldinho ofcourse). Others might all become class acts, but not good enough to be considered legends, I think.

Too early about Messi, mate. He is only 19 and he still has a lot to prove.

I think Rooney will go down as one of the greatest strikers of all time when all is said and done. Pure speculation on my part of course, though.

    v. Persie, Rooney, C. Ronaldo, Babel... these are the ones who are going to be come European legendes, along with VDV.

Of course, Messi and Aguero will become world legends.

3 out of the 4 you said aren't European, but if they were they would be considered

pittsy1 didn't say they had to be European...
A player can be a legend in Europe without being European.
Did you mean "European" as in they play for a European national team? Because even players like Messi, you could call him European for example as he has spent the last half of his life in Europe.

Hard to guess as someone could just flop like that. But i think Messi has the potential to be great if he carries on improving.
