it's hard to say...Depends what kind of supporting style you like, every country has its own flavour... I really like Turkish, Balkan, Italian, and German/french atmospheres.
Well the argies can be very intense, shall we say. Especially during derby games. Most european leagues now, with the building off all-seater stadiums have become the homes of the prawn sandwich brigades. Prime example of this is Chelsea. Was a very scary place to go to in the late 70's/80's. Now, ive had dreams that are scarier.
In Europe only the turkish can be considered crazy. The rest................ In the world: 1st place: Argentineans 2nd: Turkish 3rd: Chileans 4th: Brazilians 5th: Uruguayans 6th: Paraguayans ... the rest....
I thought the Greeks are crazy too. Recently, a fan was killed after a women volleyball game by rival fan group. A volleyball game.... a women one too... of all place --- Greece. The teams were named Panathinaikos Athens and Olympiakos Piraeus. It must be a spill-over from the soccer rivalry. I just cannot see how serious people get into a women volleyball game.
The crazy fans are the one's who are willing to cause trouble outside hometurf. so that excludes the italian and turk fans I guess ,who only get "crazy" when they can hide behind the local riot police.
German Fans are probably nowhere close as "crazy" as some mediteranean and south american places... which Im not really sad about... In the Bundesliga Frankfurt is probably the roughest and the most ultra-oriented fanscene... Most others are pretty much dead since the new stadiums have been built and many fans have been locked out... Schalke used to be pretty intense in the 80s for example. Today their average Fan seems to be 12 years old... You will find some more intense fanscenes in the lower Divs tough. Im talking about the likes of Dynamo Dresden, Rot Weiss Essen or Lok Leipzig... Commercialization hasnt gotten through to them and there is still quite a bit of that 80s feeling left...
Ecuador, Colombia, and even Bolivia and Venezuela have had problems as of late. But Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay are all still a class ahead of the rest. Eastern Europe has its problems too(The Balkan countries in particular, Poland, Russia, some other Soviet block countries). In CONCACAF, just Costa Rica, and Mexico Cit/Guadalajara in Mexico. Occasional problems in Jamaica and the rest of Central America. Africa mainly in big continental tournaments. Why (seriously I'm not being sarcastic)
Serious about what? The fact that they are trying to avoid having the problems that Argentina, Italy and the rest are having?? This is an excerpt from the article of which you posted the link. Ecuador calls in the experts Tuesday, 16 March, 2004, 16:05 GMT "We don't have a big problem in our stadiums, but it is starting to be [one]," Vice President of the Ecuador Football Federation, Carlos Viasis, told BBC World Service's World Football programme. "Here there is little, but in the future we don't know, so we're trying to avoid that." This does not mean there is a problem...You seem to be reading WAY too much into this. BESIDES, DID YOU READ THE DATE OF THE ARTICLE??? 2004!!!
Read what I wrote, I said they had some problems, and I also said that Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay(and I forgot Chile) are much more serious. And I was referring to a recent Emelec game where the fans tore out the plastic toilets, set them on fire and threw them onto the field, I couldn't find the youtube clip or the article so I just posted that instead.
Wish there was a way to fix the problem in Chile without all seater stadiums. I think they should start banning people, like they do in england and actually arresting some people, specially those damn Colo-Colo fans.
Add the likes of Waldhof Mannheim, Kickers Offenbach and Darmstadt 98 to that. Nobody has even mentioned the Poles. Not big crowds, but it seems that every club in the polish league is watched by complete nutters.
:/ Spain seem pretty mild, even compared to England. South America and Turkey are probably the most crazy.
Spain Barca, Real perhaps, I don't know I've never been but I did see Atletico Madrid v Espanyol. Huge stadium and a pretty good attendance... You will find more noise and atmosphere in the English North East counties league, never mind the comparative raucousness of the Conference. Seriously.
The Scots are good fans. The Celtic v Rangers fixtures are beyond football and I don't like them because of it. However there is no doubt they create a most extraordinary atmosphere. I prefer Scots football awat from this fixture and the Scots abroad are second to none.
Argentinian fans. River Plate fans are the greatests. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GnLQdB-t0Rg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBtjNo2lmgA&mode=related&search= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXDhdbEs32k&mode=related&search=
Check out the video I made of pictures of the fans throughout the last few years:
