If I had to hazard a guess I'd say Chelsea pobably have the bigger payroll of the two.

But how can they make money? They can't and aren't interested in doing so. Chelsea is just a toy for Abramovic to play with and he doesn't care how much he spends.

Madrid must deliver top class players to the team if the president is to be re-elected, (I think the elections are held annualy), and the potential presidents always run around telling everyone that they'll buy this player or that player or spend so much money on improving the team if they are elected.

    No jealousy there at all.

Are Chelsea trying to make money? No

Does Abramovic care how much he spends? NO

Is he having fun, possibly fulfilling a childhood dream of owning a team? Yes

Would it be fair to say that the club is like a toy for him? I believe it would, he hardly sees the club as a sound investment oppurtunity does he?

I wasn't having a go at him at all, he can spend his money how he wants and I'm sure all Chelsea fans are pleased that he chose your team to spend it on. I'm pleased for him too, good luck to him, he's having a good time and always seems to smiling when pictured in the crowd at one of the games but to suggest that he's there for any other reason than to have a bit of a laugh and to have a go at playing fantasy football but in the real world would be proposterous.

Not jealous at all, well done Roman!! You guys look like the only team stopping Arsenal from winning the title this season, and that, in my eyes at least is a good thing.

Real Madrid only pay their galacticos a large wage and their squad depth isn't that great. Therefore, I would assume that Chelski would have the bigger payroll.

thats why hes buliding new facilites, including a huge youth training academy(for the future), and focusing on advertising the chelsea name throughout the world to attempt to make them a big name like certain other clubs, but youre right he doesnt care about making money.

Real Madrid, who in my opinion and the opinion of Teso Dos Bichos, (the only other person to apply to the original question so far), have a smaller payroll than Chelsea, are a much bigger global brand than Chelsea, who have a larger stadium than Chelsea, have spent less than Chelsea in the last couple of years on players and have a good youth system (Raul, Casillas etc.), and who have won the Champions League twice in the last 5 seasons are heavily in debt. That should tell you all you need to know about Chelsea's real chances of making money for the foreseeable future.

Abramovic probably realises this, can't figure out why you don't.

I would definately say Chelsea, because they have "Cash on Hand". Where as Madrid are more or less covered by the government apparantly.

well, the question is what will happen to chelski when abramovich gets tyred of this¨TOY???¨.And its impossible to keep on spending all the time, isnt it ????I mean,if it actualy is a toy, what will happen if he sees it a waist of money 5-10 years from now???would chelski then have the budget to be up there with the top??Right now i dont think so,but u never know what the future holds for u!!!!(lifes full of surprises)

If I am not mistaken, Ambramovich took on Chelsea's previous debts, bought the stadium, etc...That combined with players...

My guess is Chelsea. How many teams have the luxury or being able to loan out Veron and Crespo. Their depth is increadiable. Real does not have their depth anymore, they stick with their galactico's and Pavons

yes we are now debt free and have a trust of 100 million dollars setup that is the clubs, not roman's. real has a good youth system? hilarious. casillas started with real 8 years ago, and raul is not a homegrown product, he came from atletico madrid. but youre right the youth system is so good they stopped buying overrated galaticos, and instead focused on bringing up their younger talents: Beckham and OWen ;)

Chelsea can spend spend spend. Abramovic, the amount he is spending to the amount hes making. Its all a front anyway, he'll probs be exposed in The News Of The World for being a drugs barron, with 17 whores and a parrot called Benny the immigrant.
