Chelsea have bought a boatload of players for the 2003-2004 season.

I think they did well this season semis of UCL and 2nd in league.
but who has been your most disappointing?

We already had this poll. I believe Mutu Crespo and Geremi were the front runners.
My vote goes to Geremi, because he's been healthy but completely useless on the right wing.

Much as I like Crespo he's it with Veron a close second IMO.

I don't really understand where all these opinions of Crespo come. Look at his goal scoring rate. He averaged more than a goal per 2 appearances, and almost a goal per start. Compared to Mutu he was a goal scoring machine.

if geremi was played in the center he would have been fine and makelelelele wouldnt of been neccessary.

My vote is for Mutu. Veron was played when unfit and often out of position, he also was injured most of the year. I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt. But Mutu really lost it.

    LA, for now
Is that why Madrid farmed one out to borough while the other started? Geremi is not in Makele's class, but thats no insult as very few are Madrid have really suffered without him.

Except that Geremi has ALWAYS played on the wing, either as a midfielder or as a defender. We thought we were buying a rampaging wingman rather than a defensive plodder. Geremi is a good player, but together with Makelele they completely bog down our midfield passing.

I dunno if we bought him to play on the wing. But I agree that its not a good idea to play him and Makelele in the same midfield unless we are desperate.

I am tempted by Geremi, but he did try very hard and was moved around a lot and not played consistently. In the end I think it has to be Mutu for me too, especially when you consider a) what he cost compared to Geremi and also the promise he showed in the first few games compared to his attitude at the end of the season.

Against Villa away he was a disgrace and I don’t think he was picked again after that.

I agree with nicephoras, Crespo had a respectable goals per game ratio and did a lot of "off the ball" work (not always clear on tv) in the games he played. I think with a more prolonged run in the team he could have been even better.

As an aside is it etiquet to come on another teams board and start off negative threads? You could have had a who is your best poll :)

Speaking of Crespo and off the ball work - I just watched the first half of our drubbing of Newcastle last night. When we had all of our pieces in place, we were playing REALLY flowing attractive football. Runs down the wings by Duff, Bridge and Johnson, cheeky passes through the center, continuous work by both Crespo and Mutu to get on the ball in good spots, and Veron playing pretty well. That, as well as the second half in the CL at Highbury was as well as we've really played all year. And what were the similarities? We had everyone healthy.
Lets hope that with a new RM, less injuries from Duff and perhaps an improved attitude by Mutu we can get back to that form.

Why did anyone think that? Surely someone watched him doing the same at Boro last year.

Actually, what I remember from Geremi at Boro WERE runs up the wing.
