From MLSnet this afternoon... http://web.mlsnet.com/news/mls_news.jsp?ymd=20070402&content_id=87043&vkey=pr_mls&fext=.jsp "MLS has established the MLS Working Group on Officiating, which will conduct regular meetings between officials, coaches, and player representatives to promote better relationships and understanding of the rules and their application. Funding has been budgeted for the formal training of the first MLS player who decides to pursue a career in officiating. " My nomination is for good old "Sneaky" Pete Marino . Can you imagine the Hand of God goals that would be scored? Any thoughts on who you'd like to see?
Is that a real fact? I picture Sylvio Rudman running up and down the pitch with a cigarette hanging from his mouth
According to Wikipedia he went to play in Germany during 2002-2003. But yes after he was waived I do know he stayed in Columbus and worked at Home Depot for a bit.
So I went to THECREW.COM to see who lead the team ALL TIME for yellow cards or red cars but it only has the sunny history of the Crew. Its just goal, assist, saves, etc leaders...HOWEVER the 2006 media guide lists: Maize as the CAREER leader in Fouls committed (316) Maize as the leader for fouls committed in a game (9) Mike Clark as the career leader in yellow cards (40) Mike Clark as the career leader in red cards (4) So the obvious choice is Mike Clark (Maize is/was a US youth asst. coach with the evil Raul Diaz Arce). The only question is how you can pry him away from his cushy deal operating all of the GREAT CLIPS chains in Central Ohio. Plus, he'd have to keep his shirt on... so I guess they need to keep looking. Maybe we should nominate Thor Lee. After all, he did score the first goal in Crew history (even if he was in a DC jersey at the time)
I've glanced over some of the rosters and I think that Chad McCarty should be the one. Besides, who else in history had an own goal and a red card... in the same match. I think that after the cheers from those fans he could handle anything. Also, just a thought, could you imagine if Carlos Ruis would ever have a whistle? There would be more diving than the Olympics!
