I followed the US vs. Panama game on matchtracker the other night while listening to it on the Panama radio station which was posted... the announcer on the radio had Convey, Donovan, and Davis as the goal scorers (Convey with two)... matchtracker had Convey, Beckerman, and Esky (again Convey with two)... on the Ticker report on ESPN.com it shows the same goal scorers as the radio guy reported...

    Who is/was right???

(I'm sorry if this was asked and answered already... i just didn't see it in another thread)

yep, just watched the goals...on 'Fox Sports Noticias' replay in the morning (original broadscast was last night-Wed)...Can't believe one has to go to an Argentina-based sports show in order to get highlights....BTW expect US-Canada highlights on Friday night edition....tonight they will be showing all the other group's hl, like they did Tuesday night

Did you really think Esky scored? Especially after the pictures were posted?

I managed to see most of the goals, too, on a different Latin American feed. Perhaps this is the place to put some comments about them ...

    1-0 Convey

    They didn't show it.

    2-0 Davis

Horrible giveaway in Panama's central midfield leads to Landon receiving a pass in the box. Near the endline, he holds, holds, then cuts the ball back to split two defenders and connect with an onrushing Davis.

    3-0 Donovan

Nice buildup through the center of midfield springs Beasley out wide. He cuts a short cross back to Donovan whose first touch is a gorgeous ball with the outside of his right foot just inside the far post.

    3-1

Horrible stuff from Borchers. Long ball into the box and he shouldn't have allowed the forward to get a touch. Instead, he lets the ball bounce, and the Panamanian ends up flicking it back over Nat's head and still having plenty of space to finish.

    3-2

An absolutely beautiful left-footed strike from the corner of the box, about 25 yards from the endline. Really, a great long-range strike, upper 90, hitting the crossbar on its way in. Top-notch stuff.

    3-3

One-on-one goal that sure looked offside to me, but as Sandon mentioned, our backline doesn't have much recovery speed. The Panamanian forward also had way too much time to dribble in; Countess made his life pretty easy, too.

    4-3

Another bad giveaway by Panama leads to Beasley getting the ball out wide. He nutmegs a defender before sending a cross to Johnson. Johnson's touch is deflected awkwardly into the air, and Convey, who has charged into the box, does a beautiful job of reading it and volleying home.

    OK... thanks everyone...

But now for the obvious question...

How the hell does matchtracker get it wrong on two of the four U.S. goals???

USSF was probably doing match tracker by listening to panamanian radio...

They specified the goal was with the right foot, so that right there made me suspicious.

Actually, Fox Sports Report (in English, on FSW) showed the highlights last night. Because its broadcast time is late, you have to wait one day for them to show the highlights from the night before.

The highlights went really fast, but it's clear that Davis (#9) scored the second and Donovan (#10) the third. The second goal by Panama was a beauty. No way the keeper had a chance.

Can't quite remember the 1st goal. A US player sent it in from the right side, another headed it down in the box to no one in particular and it bounced to Convey. I didn't catch the numbers and have no idea who did what except that Convey scored on it.

The goal by Donovan was beautiful - the kind of nonchalant brilliance that you don't see everyday.

Counting this game, the Denmark friendly and San Jose's last three games in the playoffs, Donovan has 6 goals in his last five games (though one was from the spot)

I agree-that was a fantastic bit of skill and pace.He is an amazing player. Convey's second goal was very nice too-a volley with not much of the goal showing-hit it right to the opening.

It could have taken a funny bounce off his right foot while he was trying to switch it to the left.
