I'm ordering the game. It's not a terrible price for a game that doesn't have much large scale interest. Which would be why the networks all shied away from bidding on the game. Although I must admit I wish I could get it in HD. And the only way to convince the networks they errored is to order games like this. Let them know there actually is a market for them and their advertisers. In 1990 a crack soccer watching unit was sent to prison by a CONCACAF court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Midwestern underground. Today, still wanted by FIFA, they survive as viewers of US soccer. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can watch with them.
No chance. This is a slippery slope to me forking out another $60 this year and $150 for the hex, which is never going to happen.
There's a bar down the street from where I live, which will likely be showing it, and probably without a cover charge. If not, then I will get a couple friends together and we'll order it.
If you are going to be honest, you must if you live in the States. Or you could be dishonest and find an illegal stream.
No way. Not one dime. Why doesn't it have large scale interest? This is a World Cup Qualifier. If the US goes down to Guatemala and lays an egg. It will be huge. How is there not much interest? Maybe the folks at ESPN have never heard of CONCACAF? This is our life on WCQ. Business partner? No way. I guess they will show the home match? Will there be enough interest for that?
I'm getting a few friends together and we are going to split the cost. Also, gonna fire up the grill and throw some sausages, burgers and chicken. Gonna pop open a cold brew and enjoy the game. Life is good!
How is it dishonest to watch illegal streams? I'm pretty honest about it. I watch illegal streams every week.
Even more reason not to watch it. Why would I give them one penny. US Soccer needs to not let the return match on in Guatemala.
I get that. But, once you start paying for pay per view it never ends.Traffic gets the money - the Guatemalan fed might get some as well. The only way to stop that nonsense (pay-per-view) is not to order it. If enough people didn't order it, then it wouldn't be a viable option. Also, US Soccer needs to make sure the game in the US against Guatemala is shown in Guatemala.
PPV is better than closed circuit. It's a step in the right direction. Once ESPN, or someone else, can get decent advertiser money to pay for feed... it'll happen. However, not buying it tells the networks they were correct in not bidding on it. It's a lose and keep losing scenario.
I pay to go see boxing at some bar, so I will go to my closest soccer bar and pay a cover ($10 tops I would imagine).
I will be finding a free stream online and enjoying every second of Traffic/Integrated not getting my money. I already pay 100+ bucks a month for DirecTV. I sure as hell am not going to be putting out another 30 bucks for two hours of entertainment. I want nobody to buy this match. I would be 100% happy if Traffic doesn't make back the money they bid to broadcast it. Anything to keep them away from anymore PPV games in the future. From Integrated President in article from the AP: "What's good for the sport, that's U.S Soccer's agenda". All he cares about is Integrateds bottom line and when they look back at this I want that bottom line to have a big fat minus sign in front of the number.
