Meh. I wish I had Petke's spirit; I'd at least get a little upset about the result.
    I watch
I let out a yelp/groan/whatever as a goal goes in
I grimace a bit as an RB player commits a worse than garden-variety gaffe
I shrug and turn the TV off when the final whistle blows
Can we just call the season now, please?

The only thing that impressed me last night was Zach Thornton's demeanor. Seemed genuinely concerned when he clocked one of our guys (forget who  ) right in front of his goal. Stayed with him, eventually gave him a hand up. At the end of the match, had a word for several of our guys even before some of his teammates; got a smile and a rueful laugh out of Woly, even. Class.

Well he was on our roster not to long ago so i am sure he formed some friendships with a few of the players.

Take heart Toad. RedBull-a-palooza is just a mere 8 months away. With all the razzle-dazzle planned you will hardly notice the semi-pro team home team getting pummeled on the field. What they have planned for home game #2 is anyone's guess.

Right, understood. Nice job by Zach whatever the history or circumstances.

Oh yeah, nearly forgot. The heavens will open, choirs will sing and the new millenium will dawn :p

    Can hardly wait.

I just saved beer/food and parking money each week as I have cut my losses by not going since the LA debacle.

Here is how I handle it...kinda like the old Dallas TV show...it's all been a bad dream...

I pretend in my head that the Metrostars/Redbulls franchise was always a bad USL team.

We've been out of our league for the last 14 seasons.

By the grace of God, NY/NJ has now become the 2nd new expansion team for 2010...

Of course with the MOTHER OF ALL SOCCER SPECIFIC STADIUMS = RED BULL ARENA!!!

...2010!!! Our first REAL season in the MLS!!!

That's what keeps me calm and sane.
And of course the Red Bull Arena Webcam...

    -Cheers

And what happens when the cold, hard reality of the same old turd in a shiny new wrapper slaps you across the face next April?

I'm not disappointed because I realize this team has been beaten down like Michael Vick's dog, ready the lick the foot that's kicking it. At least we gave some of the young guys time on the field yesterday.

As far as I am concerned, in 2010 we will be a 1st year MLS franchise.
I will be expecting a poor season. We probably won't be making the playoffs, but we will be in shiny new RB Arena!

...It is quite sad how delusional I've become.

I hope the big honchos upstairs think and act like you and keep that spirit of a New Beginning with the New Stadium and continue all year around and year to come...

If present management and ownership are still around this will be sad but true.

I lost interest like 4 years ago when Lalas took over and sold the MetroStars to a marketing agency.

$30 a game saved. I may only go to 5 games this year. Would save $300.
