The Fire have had an outstanding year, and I hope they continue with the MLS Cup. Their attacking style with Razov, Ralph, and Beasley is outstanding. Throw in Mapp, and a tough defense with Armas, Curtin, Perez, and Bocanegra. Big Zach hasn't been tested, but seems to come big when called on.
The MetroStars!!! {We still DO have a chance, don't we?} But I jest. In truth I would like to see Chicago win.
The other rinky-dink town* versus the team with the nastiest fans in the league. Tough choice - NOT! Go Earthquakes. *Comment courtesy A. Rothenberg, circa 1996.
i want the fire to win the cup, making it a historic domestic triple. that, and the fact that beas, boca, and armas will leave if they win the cup and that makes it easier for Columbus next year.
Treble Pullin' for the Fire. Besides being my hometown, things like winning the treble are a sports writer's dream. MLS should be pushing this angle all the more and making comparisons to teams thath have accomplished it like Man U (Fire aren't at the same level as them but comparisons to recognizable international teams that others follow can only help raise the profile standing of the league).
First the "Scott and Lacy" sign, and now this: Smurfs-jokes. Color Smack? Look, Galaxyfans, 5:2 hurt. We understand. On Sunday, relax and root for California's best as they play for the Cup on home turf. Let's hope it helps to rid the pain. You guys were so much easier to make fun of when you weren't so embarrassing.
