I am not saying Alecko didn't deserve it. I just wanted to see which player everyone else thinks should have won it. You can agree with Alecko winning it, or say who you think should have won it.
We all know that, in one respect, "best player" awards like this, especially in soccer, and especially in COLLEGE soccer, are kind of silly. Is Luichi Gonzalez, for example, going to get a sniff of the national team?? Then why did HE get the award? The fact is that such awards are not at all correlated with, or predictive of, that player's career progression or future impact on the game. Pat Noonan, for example, may go onto a better pro career than Alecko. Alecko MAY light it up in MLS? Who knows? Meanwhile, you could make the argument that Chad Marshall right now IS the best player -- or certainly the player with the most upside -- in college soccer today. So, congrats to Alecko, he deserved it as much as anybody else, or perhaps as less as anyone else, and, as Forest Gump would say, that's about all we can say about that.
I agree that Alecko deserved it as much as anyone. I think folks could argue for just about anyone and make valid points because soccer is not based on statistics, and none of us gets to see everyone play so we're all bs-ing anyway.
um...Alecko. Hands down, not that the others won't go on and have great careers, but thats not what the award is for. It's for the "best college soccer player". Not who will do the most after school.
