Alexi already posted this, but the other thread was way off topic. David Vaudreil (Chi), Ted Chronopolous (NJ), Peter Villegas (DC) and Raul Palacios (Col) seem to be the likely players we would get.
I would say: anybody but Leo Krupnik. The guy has the same last name, my ex-girlfriend has (the very one, I dedicated my song "I don't love you anymore" too, and I can't reproduce these lyrics here, because it's a family board ). So, I already hate this guy, too ... On serious note: a young defender would be a good choice for the Quakes.
That could be Saavedra. He is 19 and is (possibly not anymore) a P-40. He played major minutes for the Milwaukee Rampage this season and could be developed into a good defender/defensive midfielder.
send JCo somewhere that he can actually play and get Juergen Sommer as a backup, but I'm a little biased because I know Sommer from my C'bus intern days.
We should try and sign Nelson Santana(nelly!-name mix up). He played in the Candlestick game. I think he has a lot of potential and he played really well. He almost scored. Almost is better then not at all. TRANSFORM MARI
Well, now, if they haven't been waived, then they won't be picked up in the waiver draft now will they?
He dosen't play for a MLS team. Which s*cks because he's kind of harder to find in a sence. TRANSFORM MARI
If another team picks up Ibsen, mayby take a roll of the dice and pick Chronopolous... Lassiter is better off retired--unless he wants to play in the "A" he won't find a spot with any of the other teams, unless he wants to ride the pine on the reserves. Kramer has seen better days, and Sommer maybe wants to pick something closer or even so, go back to England (despite his age). Unless any of the senior internationals plan on getting a green card (resident alien status) they too are gone... Gonzalez looks like reserve or A League material at this point... Bower may as well head over to the "A" as well... Miguel Saavedra could be a good steal for the Quakes if they choose him--factoring in the Quakes defense at least two of them (Agoos/Dayak) could be hanging them up, Conrad merely blew up most of last season, and some depth in the back could help. Usually anyone who's Under 25 and playing in the "A" will have a fair chance of getting a look in MLS... anyone over that age and who's been cut from the top flight, tag them as journeymen... It's all speculation...
Also, the waiver draft is tomorrow (Wed Nov 6) at 9:00 PST. If I remember from last year it went dry for the Quakes. We'll see if Yallop (or the rest of the coaches) comes up with a steal.
Very few, if any players get taken in the waiver draft historically. I think I'd rather Frank passed on the waiver draft and tried to sign some good college players. I'm beginning to worry about Frank's drafting abilities. So far, only Robinson and Roner have stuck from the draft. (I suppose you could count Lucci as he did last a full season.) Some of these players were at one time or another touted as the next coming. It's strange to see them on the trash heap. Jason Moore, Roy Lassiter, Shaker Asad, Ian Fuller, Musa Shannon, our own Lucci. Kramer and Chronopoulos have had good long runs in MLS. Probably doesn't make them feel any better at this point. But neither of those guys should be hanging their heads tonight, even if this is the end of the road for them. Of course, Frank kept Eddie Robinson when I thought that he probably wasn't good enough, and now Eddie has panned out to be a really good player. So I think I should have faith in Frank's decisions. After all, he's clearly not a depressed raving lunatic, like Lothar the Loathsome! It's so nice to be a Quakes fan in the Frank Yallop Era!! GO QUAKES!! - Mark
Re: Re: Who do the Quakes pick up in the Waiver Draft? We get two Discovery Signings each season. I wouldn't waste one on a player that almost scored once because RSC thinks he's cute.
I've been fairly impresses with Rick Titus in a few games. I'm sure he has a lower wage bill than Chronopolus...
