Beasley is having problem to hold his position he have lost speed, stamina, and even motivation. Convey have come to the rescue but Beasley shoes seems to be too big for Bobby ....So who do ya all people have in mind for a left side tryout .....? Beasley have been one of our most aggressive players on the left side, on his prime he was a nightmare for any defense line so to replace him will require a huge effort by our coaches... A little help is always welcome
Well he was in great form so you are wrong there, he is not playing due to injury, but anyways my vote is Freddy Adu, he would be very good there and with Bradley's sacred empty bucket that would be his best spot anyways, he will just have to defend mroe than he wants, but tough luck that's what it takes at this level.
I would like to see Adu spend sometime there. But I think he is too good with the ball at his feet in the middle of the field to leave on the left. I would like to see Robbie Rogers out there too, he had a good U-20 WC, if he is in good form when MLS starts then he should get a shot. As was stated above, Beasley will replace Beasley!
Rogers, Mapp, Alvarez, or Adu. I'd be pleased with any of those picks, and I'm sure none of them will happen soon.
How about pushing Bornstein up to the left mid position and starting Heath Pearce or Jonathon Spector at left back. Bornstein has the speed and the desire to take people on.
I agree Bornstein should get some time at left mid. Plus I want to see Pearce and Spector get more time at fullback.
I just finish watching few Adu plays on Yotube....DC/Celtic... right side...U20/Brazil...right side.... U20 Poland...Right side He seems to play with more easiness on the right ....
LB is our weakest position right now. Moving Bornstein away from it would only exacerbate the problem.
Stop.stop, stop with Adu playing out wide. Thats horrible thinking by you guys. do we really want probally our best CAM or SS playing LM i dont. His name is MR. "everything" Rogers. sad he was not there vs Mexico.
In the U-20 world cup he was the CAM/SS where he was giving the whole field to roam. And his magic proceeded all over the field. He wasent playing on the right;unless i have misinterperted what u mean in your post.
If you cut the soccer field on a half seems to me that Freddy Adu attack more often from the right side .....Perhaps a 30 percent from the left side
Pearce can hold it down. Bornstein isnt all that great at defending. If you move him up I think he has very similar qualities to Guardado. Those two could battle it out for years to come. A left back will probably come around berfore another competent left sided Mid. Corrales was exposed bbecause Convey took absolutely no pressure off of him. If Convey woulda helped out on D Corrales wouldnt have looked so bad. If Convey had been succesfull in the attack then the Mex midfielders would have had to stay back. Neither happened. Mapp doesnt seem to have the heart or soccer brain plus hes always injured. Rogers couldnt hack it in Holland. And Alvarez might be OK but dont se him turning into anything special.
Perhaps Convey was helping somebody but he did not have the self confidence or the motivation to start an attack as soon as he touch the ball he immediately pass it to somebody this was uncharacteristic from Beasley....as soon as Beasley get the ball on that side everybody start to move toward the front because they knew something is going to happen....This is what we need on the left side... but who....?
Robbie Rogers is the heir apparent to Bease on the left side. He has the pace, the willingness to take people on and has proven he plays well with Altidore and Adu, who will be fixtures for the US for years to come.
Why is Brad Davis missing from this conversation? From what I understand Brad Davis was slated to start the Mexico match but tweaked a leg muscle and was forced to sit against Mexico. Quite frankly I'm positive (in my mind at least) that Davis is an immediate upgrade over Convey who previously served as Beasley's back up. If Beasley isn't healthy and Davis is then he will start. Davis is a better defender than given credit for. Davis is by far the best technically of any of the main candidates. By technical I mean on the ball skill which includes, dribbling skill, passing, crossing, shooting & of course as a free kick specialist. Davis certainly is behind Beasley and Convey in one key area foot speed although Davis isn't slow by any means. My left flank mid depth chart, Beasley Davis Mapp Holden Rodgers Convey Lewis
Bornstein has above average attacking skills when compared to LBs. But mediocre to below average skills when compared to LMs. Rogers, by all accounts, impressed everybody at Heerenveen with his ability. What he "couldn't hack" was the emotional aspect of moving to a foreign country where he didn't speak the language as a, what, 18 or 19-year-old. Unfortunate? Sure. Understandable and forgivable? Absolutely. That's a tough situation for anybody. Heck, many of the other non-european teens that move to europe have the advantage of their family relocating with them. I'm sure he'll be back in Europe within a couple years and be much more prepared to succeed there.
It's beasley's position to lose and unless injured, I don't see him losing it anytime soon. But if someone has to replace him, I'd say Rogers or Adu.
