Any final word on who will be available to their MLS teams this Saturday? What issues will Bruce be considering? Do his starting 11 stay in camp? Does he only release players on the East Coast? Does he try to keep releases equal ie the same number for teams playing each other?

I can't see Bruce sending everyone back to play with their MLS teams on Saturday UNLESS he's looking to see who can rebound in VERY SHORT time frames.

For the Fire 3 players out is a big hit, DC may have 3 as well depending on whether yan N. is available from NZ team.

According to today's Dispatch, Columbus will get Cunningham and Hejduk for Saturday's match, but Martino will stay for the game against New Zealand (as will, obviously, Duncan Oughton).

Ok, that adds another to my list.

    Reports have now "confirmed":

Donovan (who never came to camp in the first place)
    Hejduk
    Cunningham
    Masteroni

    That leaves one.

Assumes he does not include other Revs or Burn players - for example Joe Max Moore and Suarez.

I actually tried a long winded analysis of these scenarios in this thread.
    https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=52791

    which was the following:
I am now looking forward to this match just because some of the young guys will get a chance to show their stuff, hopefully.
I've been trying to figure out how to choose from the MLS players and its a nightmare. I would classify first those who are very important to their clubs:

Mathis, Donovan (already released), Mastroeni, Armas, Bocanegra, Beasely

Revs and Burn are off. From the Burn he could call in Suarez and Eddie Johnson, and from the Revs JoeMM, Ralston, Hernandez as well to make up the numbers.

non-MSL players are - 4 defenders available (Gibbs, Vanney, Cher, Berhalter); 2 golies, and 2 mids/forwards (Kirovski, Lewis).Players I would like to give playing time to are Convey and Martino as starters. We will need either Armas or Mastroeni. Armas could use more international games to get back and Mastroeni could use them to get out of playing for Colorado . I'll take Armas to give Colorado the help against LA.

    Starters are then:

    ................Cannon
    Cher..Berhalter..Gibbs..Vanney
    Martino..Armas..Convey...Lewis
    ........Kirovski...Twellman

Have players from east coast games on saturday show up to hold the bench on sunday. That means Chicago and DC. So have Stewart, Beasely and Bocanegra show up as subs.

    The 18 Roster:

    Cannon, Hahnemann
Cherundolo, Berhalter, Gibbs, Vanney, Bocanegra, Suarez
Lewis, Martino, Armas, Convey, Stewart, Beasely, Hernandez
    Twellman, Kirovski, Moore

This is all fantasy ofcourse but what else do you do while waiting ...................

    The "released" list:
Bobby Convey (D.C. United), DaMarcus Beasley (Chicago Fire), Pablo Mastroeni (Colorado Rapids), Jeff Cunningham (Columbus Crew), Frankie Hejduk (Columbus Crew), Dan Califf (Los Angeles Galaxy), Tim Howard (MetroStars), Clint Mathis (MetroStars).

Note that Convey & Beasley, being just kids and playing 100 miles up the road, will also dress for the US game on Sunday.

well...just a guess now that we know who won't be starting.

    hanneman
    dolo berhalter boca vanney
    armas
    stewart lewis
    martino
    kirvoski twellman

not a bad line-up (certainly better than the one against wales)...that defense is almost an a squad. it looks like this will be a good time to see how far martino has progressed. is he ready to compete with convey??? the only downside i see with this line-up...it's one of the slower forward lines we've fielded and i don't see kirvo and twellman meshing very well. look for a lot of crosses from stewart and lewis.
