Now that our most loved and most hated teams are both gone, who are United fans pulling for to win the cup? (Also a bonus question that I've been meaning to ask for a long time: has anyone ever noticed that the Metros "forumid" is 1, and ours is 13?)
Ooooooooooh! 13-6 (cups) is lucky 7 baby! I guess I'm hoping my preseason prediction of Dallas will prove correct so everyone will think I'm a smartypants.
1) Anybody but LA - cuz I hate them. 2) Anybody but KC - cuz they bore me. 3) Anybody but Dallas - cuz they beat us. 4) Anybody but Colorado - cuz, just because. 5) Anybody but Cowlumbus - cuz they annoy me. That leaves New England, San Jose, Chicago We did well against San Jose. Chicago came through for us by eliminating the MetroStars. As did New England. Chicago already won a cup. So did San Jose. Chicago cares. San Jose doesn't. Hmm... New England have never won anything. They stank for most of the season but then really came through in the end. They've got homefield throughout the playoffs and they're hosting the MLS Cup. So I have to go with New England - just becaue it makes the best story. The team everyone thought wouldn't make the playoffs, comes through in the end to clinch the cup at home. As for ... No doubt in honor of Alegria! Whadd'ya expect? Jesse is one of them.
New England. Hopefully Kamler nets the winner in front of the home crowd in the new stadium...he deserves it.
I don't really have an affinity for any other MLS teams. Hate the Galaxy Hate the Wiz-but only because of Meola Don't really care for anyone else I would say the Quakes, but they won last year, and we don't want them getting too uppity. I guess the Fire will be the team I hope wins. And I only say that because of their coach. If it weren't for Dema Kovalenko, you know, the guy who crushed his own club teammate during the All-Star Game, I might actually root for them.
San Jose.......then they will have to break them up based on the raises they get from winning back to back Cup's.
Does anyone think that LA would get the heebee jeebees going to play an MLS Cup in New England again?
New England or Dallas. New England because the fans deserve it. Any questions? Dallas because as a DC fan I like to spread the titles around. I don't want anybody to get two before we get four or five (selfish, I know). Dallas has an open cup title, but no championships. Plus I've enjoyed watching them on a number of occasions. As for the Crew.....well they are rivals, so I don't want to see them win it. But they are like honored rivals, not like the MetroTards. So this would be third best, I guess. Plus, once we get back to playoff form, we'll get back to knocking them out of the playoffs every year. So they need to take advantage of this opportunity! No to San Jose, KC, Chicago, or Colorado. And definately not LA. LA doesn't deserve a title and they never will.
I'll go with New England, since they helped contribute to the demise of the Metros, both by beating them in the last game of the season and by trading Diallo to the Metros so that he could poison their locker room. Also, the NE fans deserve it.
Tough call. I'm a Chicago and Dallas fan, but I also like San Jose a lot too. On the other hand, now that we're eliminated and Chicago and San Jose's teams have lost key players (Armas, Wolff, Mulrooney) for the playoffs, I wouldn't mind New England winning it because their fans deserve it, and I'd like to see Dallas win it all. As much as I'm not rooting for Los Angeles, if they are ever going to win it then this is the season I'd most like for them to do so because they open the new stadium next season. So I'll root for my teams in each series and watch all of the games I can. In the end, I will not be too unhappy if any of them win it. A new champion would probably be best though, and since the championship is in New England and they'll be the home team for every series, it would be nice to see them in the championship. It should be fun. -Tron
Dallas - Golfed with Jason Kreis and he is a good guy. That and his wife is expecting their second child right about that time so that would be really cool for Jason to win the Cup and have a new baby NE - Just simply for the sake of the league. Home team in the final means more tickets sold. Dallas over NE with Kreis as MVP
Oh yeah - I would like to add no Chicago, KC, or SJ. I am greedy - I like being the only team with more than one MLS Cup.
Put me in the "anyone but LA" camp. Are any of these games going to be on national TV other than the final? I can't seem to get the playoff schedule page mlsnet to work.
The only game I see for sure as being televised is this Thursday Chicago @ New England on ESPN2 Go Revs!!
I'll root for Columbus just so I can see more games here while I am school... hopefully to beat LA along the way too.
